You could use some of that spray paitn that makes stuff look like stone.

I tried it on a stature once, completely erased all fine detail from the model, but if your going for a "barely human moving sand ghost" look it could be worth looking into.

Where would I find this stuff

Walmart i suppose. My mom used it once to make a grey plastic Buddha look like it was made of actual stone.

@dragonkingofthestars: Yeah, the problem is we're Irish and Walmart - thank God - doesn't exist over here.

A hardware store would be my next bet.
