Hi Folks,
Below is the background for my Chaos chapter... If your interested have a read let me know what you think!

*************************
Twelve centuries ago, the Adeptus Mechanicus founded another wave of Astartes chapters, one such chapter were the Sand Reavers, their gene seed selected from the very purest of stock, for they were to be special - they were to be founded on Paranus III one of the largest Forge Worlds in it's sector of imperial space.

Their combat doctrine was based largely on how the indigenous population of Paranus III were forced to hunt. As a desert world Paranus III suffered from horrendous sand storms which made, tracking and snaring almost impossible – the people hunted the only way that they were able, by laying elaborate traps. The men would split into several groups – the largest of which would remain stationary, the others would spread out into small groups and attack their prey with lightning speed and deadly ferocity. This sometimes worked, but more often then not, their prey fled the first attack, and usually the second, third and fourth, however they would always find all avenues of escape impossible, save one… and this is where the largest group of the hunters had remained. The men would close on their quarry with a meticulous plan, and then crush their prey with their untamed ferocity.
As a favoured chapter of the Adeptus Mechanicus many of the ranking astartes were Tech Marines, and the Machine Spirit was always prevalent in their engagements.

Over the centuries the forge world expanded and hollowed out more and more of the planet to make way for progress as the surface of the planet was too harsh a place for such precise work. As they expanded an archaeological discovery was made – a small versatile hand tool was discovered, this device made manufacture and repair of vehicles remarkably simple and the Machine sprit seemed to warm to it. The Tech Marines of the Sand Reavers took charge of the device and yoked its power. Or so they thought.

The device was in fact an artefact of chaos, and before long it had the tech marines in its grasp, this corruption spread like a cancer throughout the chapter and forges, and it wasn’t long before the true extent of their betrayal came to light…. During a routine training exercise one battle brother spilt the blood of another, not an uncommon occurrence – training is harsh, sometimes it happens. However this event set about a chain reaction that that unveiled the treason that had gripped the Sand Reavers, less than one whole company remained loyal, and of these most perished in the pitched battle that followed, the survivors fled to the surface and were presumed dead after an exhaustive search. Eight days and nights after the treason came to light there was a massive fold in warp space which shook Paranus III to it’s very foundations. When the loyal Astartes eventually went to investigate they found no trace of the traitors of their forges, no one could explain what or how it had happened, but one thing was certain, the precision in which the vast forges had been removed was deliberate and un-natural.

The core of the planet was disintegrating, and the loyal marines knew it was only a matter of time before they perished with it. Whilst staring certain death and dishonour to their chapter clean in the face, a twist of fate threw them a life line. An inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus made planet fall and inducted the remaining marines into his custody. In one respect they had proven their worth and would have the opportunity to serve the emperor under his service, on the other hand the taint of corruption could not be overlooked. The loyalists of the Sand Reavers chapters where to forever remain under the direct control of the Ordo Hereticus.

The reason for the warp rift was unclear to them, but the Sand Reavers who had turned to the Ruinous Powers were glad of it. It would have been a great challenge to have run the inevitable blockade that would have subjugated Paranus III and they would have not come through it unscathed. They found themselves on a strange planet, twisted and warped by the imaterium, they named the planet Paranus IV and set about plotting their revenge against he Corpse Emperor of Man.

Some of the chapters warriors became loyal to the goals of Chaos and it’s glory, however some were drawn to the lures of a specific patron, many allied themselves with Tzeench who’s subtle manipulation and perpetual scheming married well with the intricate nature of the Sand Reavers combat manoeuvres. Conversely many were drawn to Khorne – those who sprang the traps had many, many opportunities to spill blood in their lords name.
Many of the chapter’s leaders rapidly became powerful agents of chaos, Sorcerers, Lords, one was even elevated to the rank of Demon Prince, they, with the guidance of the tech marines (who soon entered into Obliterator pacts) took the reins and held the factions of their chapter together and steered it where they wanted it to go in the name of and for the glory of Chaos!!!

Nice mate. Now I have a clearer understanding of your army make up.

One thing I would do is expand a little on the details of 'Paranus IV' what it is like is it also a desert world, etc. I would also possibly go into a little more depth regarding the chapters fall and why they where 'special'?
