Stop the press!
Exclusive leak from "The Eye" at GWHQ.

I hope they figure out how to work the gameplay this time around...what a headache before with the different altitudes! Chances are I'll stick with X-Wing, but it'll be cool to see GW roll out the specialist games.

Yeah, they are a bit late to the table in this particular category. It'll be interesting to see if they have streamlined the rules in an attempt to compete with the monsters that X Wing and Star Trek Attack Wing.

Will definitely check this out, whether or not I buy it... we'll see. It's Battlefleet Gothic, Mordheim and the Deathwatch game that I am interested in.

Late to the table and late to my wallet. I think I bought -a- 40k box last year from a LGS at a 20% discount and probably 30 ships for X-Wing...

Maybe I'll get a second chance.
Do you really think GW will go back to the same sculpts? I can't think of them ever really doing that in the past.

Yeah, for me it's one box of beastmen from GW (to use in a non-GW system), versus pretty much every Rebel ship, and 8 Imperial ships. It's a system I really enjoy, so anything GW put out would have to be exceptional to divert my attention from it.

Yeah, I feel you on that one. The girlfriend and I went pretty hard on the ship collecting considering we got the old core set barely a year ago.

I very much doubt there's anything GW could produce that would bring me back to them now.
Nevertheless, it'll be interesting to see what they do with this. :)

they start with this?
It's probably because of how popular X-Wing and Armada are becoming. If you look at the boards of FFG a lot of the people are ex-40k/WFB/AoS players that are fed up with GW and happily collecting models in a fairly balanced and tournament supported system.

Fine, if the are trying to cash on on the popularity of those games, why not lead off with BFG, a system that was at one time tremendously popular and still has an active player base, instead of something with little or no name recognition or nostalgic appeal?

BFG will take a lot of effort to please people I'd imagine. This is something they can test some theories out on without alienating an existing fan-base with something that was doomed from start thanks to failed game testing and clunky mechanics.

Maybe.

I wasn't aware 40k had only four factions.

I thought they had only one. Space Marines.
Given GW's New Releases over the past 200 years, I had assumed that they had given up making any models which weren't Spess Mareen related.

Yup...GW are still giving us 21 year old Imperial Guardsmen models. 2nd edition.
