It is 997 of millenium 41, and the eastern fringe still reels from the blows dealt by hive fleet Kraken. Though this second incursion by the Tyranids has been shattered, dozens of systems are still under the threat of invasion by the now innumerable splinter fleets and the Imperium struggles to answer these cries for aid. Graia, a world noted as cleansed, is on the brink of falling and with it a stable passage to the Moloch, Triplex Phall, and Kimmeria systems.

Though spread thin across the Segmentum, a relief force of half a dozen Imperial Guard regiments and elements of the Black Templars spearhead the defense of Delta Tao. Amidst battle lines to contain the xenos threat from spreading across the entirety of Delta Tao Tertius, the systems capital and second largest factory world, a much smaller and more desperate battle is soon to begin.

A single platoon of the Elysian 217th drop regiment has been rerouted from providing reinforcment to one of the many weakening elements of the main cordon. Their mission has been codified black, the locating and recovery of a high valued individual. The targets general location has been confirmed as eight hours from one of the weakest sections of the cordon and loss of the target cannot come to pass.

And this is where you all come in, as members of the Elysian 17th. Though you do not know the details of this assignment, that your being re-tasked for it when others are laying down their lives speaks volumes for its importance.

Rules:
-Minimum of eight sentences per action thread post, and you are free to post as many times between updates as you like as long as you meet that minimum.
-Character death is a possibility, actions have consequences
-As the GM my say is final; I will [generally] not hesitate to say no or do something the way I think it should be done. If something does not make sense to you, or you have a problem with something, than feel free to comment on it in the recruitment thread. No whinging though, PM that to me so no one has to look like a child.
-No god modding; as GM I am the one running this show, so deciding whats going to happen is my call. The players and their characters will shape how certain events come about, and where the story goes. But you will not be taking control of another player character without their say-so, and you will not be altering the plot because you are bored or it suits your ‘needs’ (like generating enemies during a less active section of the story, so you can get into a fight.)
-Give me a heads up if you are not going to be able to post for a time (maybe something major has happened in real life or your experiencing writers block and need some time or inspiration.) All I need is something like “shits hitting the fan at home, won’t be able to post for a while”, this keeps me from holding things back for others while giving me some indication that there is something else on your plate at this time.
-If you have questions, if there is anything in an update your unsure of or would like clarity on if an action would be considered going to far, PM me. There are quite a few who can attest to the fact that I am more than willing to work with you; because while it may be easier to seek forgiveness than ask permission I tend to forgive by killing off your character.

Now why don't we get into characters. To start I'm looking for at least five, and as is my habit there isn't a true cap until we get towards the end.

You are members of one of the Elysian drop troop regiments, light and mobile warfare is something your rather used to. The 217th is a younger regiment, having been founded about three years ago and only having taken part in the later two years of the second Tyrannic war. Not everyone is young though, as older regiments do send some of their own back to train the newer foundings.

Character sheet:
Name:
Age: (17-24, one character can go as old as 35)
Sex:
Appearance:

Personality:
-Quirk: [A habit or behaviour that everyone has, perhaps brought on by stress or irritation. Whats yours?]
-Fear: [Elysian regiments are known for being amongst the most fearless and disciplined in the Imperium, possibly bested only by the likes of Krieg, Cadia, and Mordia. But everyone has something that spooks them even if they would rather not let others know.]
Background:
Equipment and Weapons: Everyone has drop troop fatigues (essentially a flight suit) and flak armoured reinforced with a carapace chest-plate, frag grenades, a combat knife and laspistol, and either a lasgun or shotgun as standard.
-One player may replace their lasgun/shotgun with a flamer or grenade launcher, or have specialist training. (Specialists have some training in the operation of vehicles and tinkering with machines.)
-Another player may replace their lasgun/shotgun for a heavy stubber, storm bolter, or medical training.

Additional:
-In many of my RP's there are different things that I try out. Remnants of Kraken is no different, however this time I am going to let everyone in on at a couple of them. This RP will be using a map of sorts, it will be the overall area in which the story takes place and contains the various locations you'll have access to. There is also the possibility that someone in the group has been compromised, is a traitor. That persons objective would obviously be the elimination of the target, and possibly the rest of the players.

Only that player and I will know that they are the traitor, though it is possible for others to figure it out. Be wary though, for I don't aim to make that an easy task and you could very easily sentence a loyal soldier to his or her death.

Characters:
-aherrera305 as Oan Larsson, the unkillable specialist
-Beaviz81 as Tubbs Crocket, the unorthodox medic
-Patukov as Aeud Bleth, the unhappy trooper
-Asamodai as Jaxxon Park, the burly trooper
-High_Seraph as Ishlin Katarn, the heedless trooper

Me, give up? Not until everyone gives up on the action thread at least!

As for why the lack of interest, I chalk it up to me not having done an RP in a while.

Fuck me, like the last four roleplays I saw, I am just too fuckin' lazy to try and write things... I hate me sometimes.
Happens, hopefully you get over that bout of lazyness and join up:grin:

Hmm... Gonna have a fun time writing a character for this one.
Looking forward to it.

Awesome thing is I wrote out an awesome character full of life, to have it time out. Damn you interwebs. Here we go again, super condensed.

Oan Larsson
22
Male
-5'10" Slender build, but muscles like corded steel. Copper hair, tan skin, gray eyes.
Left eye and temple have acid scars from prior 'Nid encounter. Tattoos on the arms, aquila tattoo on the left side of the neck. "From the skies!!" branded on outside of fore arm.

-Keen, and ruthless fighter. Will talk and joke when not busy but during game time, man of little word. Not afraid of rank, but respectful. Has a deep laugh, and sometimes hard to hear. Quick to anger at blatant stupidity, and endangerment of his fellows. Great at procuring items when needed.

-Nail biting when agitated and jaw clenching when fuming.

-Fear of dying and being useless, as well as loss of sight. Also, midgets.

- Learned to box, hunt, and track from his father, who died while he was 14. Grew up to be a brawler, which got him in trouble as well as several black market dealings. Enlisted in the PDF at 16 due to altercation where he stabbed another male with his father's knife "Murda" for touching his mother. At 20 after his tour in the PDF he volunteered for the 217th Drop Reg. where upon he was immediately deployed to the warfront after a year of training. Halfway through his first year on the front line, his platoon was pinned down by 'Nids during a regular clean and sweep. Upon attempting to rescue dragging his buddy, he was hit by the splash damage of an acid weapon. Luckily apart from temporarily damaging his vision and leaving him with scars, he and a handful of other survived the encounter, only to be plagued by nightmares, and scars. He was sent back for rehabilitation, and just recently cleared fit for duty with just a scar. He has been with the platoon for 5 months at this time. Two items he always has on hand is his fathers old knife, and his helmet for fear of history repeating itself.

Oan Mkoll
Gear
PT-38 Jumpsuit
Elysian Flak Armour
Accatran pattern, mark IV Lasgun "Lady"
Accatran pattern, mark II Laspistol "Guv'nah"
Webbing (complete with grenades, mags, pouches, ect)
Tanith Straight Silver
Gonna say no to Mkoll here, the personality and appearance are all good but Tanith was lost between 765 and 770, whereas this RP takes place in 997. Theres no way that Mkoll here could have a Tanith born father, maybe a descendent (and even then thats rather doubtful.)

So that will need to be redone.

I guess I can develop a character. But you should maybe PM me limits (to equipment and such) so I ain't too creative. If i can join I mean as I'm a newbie to this.
Well the only major limits are in the character sheet, namely the types of weapons you have access to.

No one has to worry about things like amount of ammo or grenades, you have 'enough' until I decide otherwise in game (though don't decide that that means you can hurl a dozen grenades in one encounter and expect to have any left over.:p)

In regards to the specialist position, its going to be a catch all term depending on what you come across. He or she might notice something or allow the group to perform an action they otherwise would not be able to without him/her. (For example coming across a non functioning half track, the specialist is able to get it running whereas without him its a useless hunk of metal.)

Tubbs Crockett (Yes i watch Miami Vice).

Age 25.

5.10". Burly build at 230 lbs of pure muscle. Crew-cut brown hair. Body a maze of scars. Fairish complexion. Bionic eye (can drop it if you want DR) on right eye after looking too closely at the bayonet of a deserter.

Utterly ruthless as a fighter. Winning is everything after all so doesn't matter how it is achieved. Prefer attacking from the back or afar, but is an able close-combat-fighter as well.

Generally composed and has a limited honor in that will avoid taking bribes and desertion is a literal berserk-button. Independent-minded but still works well with others. Humorous, though not during battle where hand-gestures tends to take over. Or you must yell really loud due to how loud a battle is.

Shows anger with a potent death-glare which is helped by the laser-eye. Fear? Well not completely fearless, but without any big hindering phobias.

Parents both alive. Factory-worker (dad) and nurse (mum). Lives normal lives, nothing to write home about. Is brave enough in combat, but will not accept stupid commands in combat. Played scrum-hockey and scrumball for his schools. Has experience in combat as a medic, though has been known to cauterize wounds with his laspistol set at low settings. Has been in the Elysian PDF since he was 18. Medic since he was 20. Also is a decent cook as he goes by the motto: "Don't piss off the cook or all you will drink is piss." (you can sensure that is it's too harsh DR).

Equipment.

Lascarabine as a lasgun is a big clumsy thing to carry during drops.
Laspistol of what they use on Elysia. Called the Chirugeon.
One rather large knife resembling the Catachan Fang (I think that's the middle-sized one).
Several smaller ones as well.
Medpack.
Drop-trooper armour.
Backpack.
Has room to carry about a dozen grenades on him.

Character sheet:

Name: Aeud Bleth
Age: 24
Sex:Male
Appearance: 5.30 ft tall and not too muscled or lean. Aeud has a sickly complexion with sunken cheeks and eyes, he shaves his head and cultivates a black mustache/ beard combo to cover his pointy chin.
Personality: Always the pessimist, Aeud always thinks that the next mission is going to be the last and that no matter how bad things are they can always get worse. As a consequence, he's determined to share his misery with both his fellow guardsmen and enemy alike
-Quirk: Prone to humming Imperial anthems when nervous and grind his teeth when angry
-Fear: Aeud is afraid of being hit with chemical weapons, being captured alive and suffering some kind of mutation

Equipment and Weapons:

-Drop troop fatigues (essentially a flight suit) flak armoured reinforced with a carapace chest-plate.
-Frag grenades
-Combat knife
-Laspistol
-Lasgun

Name: Jaxxon Park

Age: 24

Sex: Male

Appearance: Jaxxon is a beast of a man. 6' 4", 245lbs. Caucasian. Dark brown military issue short back and sides. Dark eyes.

Personality: Jaxxon is typically quite quiet and softly spoken. He keeps largely to himself but when drawn out of his shell he is good humoured and friendly. He is highly protective of his fellow soldiers and is quick to act as a mediary of peacekeeper if things get out of hand.

In combat Jaxxon likes to get up close and use his shotgun or if the situation calls for it, his tried and tested brawling skills.

-Quirk: He's a joint cracker. Mostly his fingers and neck, but also wrists, knees and ankles.

-Fear: Failure. Allowing Imperial Citizens to be harmed when he could prevent it, especially children. Heights.

Background: Jaxxon was orphaned at the age of 12 and was left to fend for himself on the streets of Elysia's cities. He fell in with a small gang of similarly orphaned children and learned to look after himself the hard way. Jaxxon picked up the nuisances of street life well and along with his size became a force to be reckoned with among the youth of the underworld.

This got him noticed by a big time crime lord who recruited him as an enforcer at the age of 18. He made a decent living beating up people who owed his boss money for almost two years. It all changed though one day when he went to beat an old man with a large debt. When he found him at his home Jaxxon discovered something he never expected.

The old man was running a shelter and hospital for street orphans. Jaxxon couldn't bring himself to hurt the old man and, knowing that failure would get him killed, he left the hospital and walked into the nearest Guard recruitment centre.

Now four years later he has served his time in the PDF, completed his training and now serves with the 217th.

Equipment and Weapons: Fatigues and armour. Grenades. Shotgun. Laspistol. Combat Knife. Pair of knuckle dusters.

Alright, lets see what we have here

Tubbs Crockett

Fear? Well not completely fearless, but without any big hindering phobias.

Lascarabine as a lasgun is a big clumsy thing to carry during drops.
Nice attempt to get around the fear part, but put one in there or no go. It doesn't have to be something he's actively aware of or rational; hell it might play no part in the RP what-so-ever or it might just throw him off slightly in a situation.

As for the lasgun, Elysians make use of a slightly more compact version which is designed for drop trooper use. I'll go either way on that gun though, so make the fear change and Crockett is in.

Aeud Bleth
Nothing wrong with Bleth, welcome aboard.

Jaxxon Park
Ah, I see now I should have gone with a Catachan regiment given all the very tall and heavily built characters we are getting .

Park is in
