I have to say, I was impressed by Rockstar on this title. The story starts off a bit slow, but it develops in to something pretty epic. Just being able to chase Buffalo on horseback while throwing sticks of dynamite at them is awesome enough.
Anyone else tinker with this game? I highly recommend it if you enjoy the GTA style of gameplay and westerns. I'd go on about it more but I need to get drunk now and enjoy my last few days of unemployment. I've been conscripted by Walmart.
I'm playing it, just completed the main story- what a horrible ending!
Not that it isn't great story-wise but I felt so bad for my character
After working the entire game to fulfil the demands of the governent so he can get his family back he returns home starts working on his ranch and reconneting with his son- then government agents turn up and shoot you to death :shok:
Oh, yeah. It was disappointing in a way, but I liked it.
The reason why your character didn't just chuck a stick of dynamite out of the barn or whatever was because that so long as he was still alive, his family was at risk of the government. They would be hunted down.
Rather then subject his wife and son to a life on the run, unable to join society, he gave his life so that they could. Furthermore, stories that lack a magical happy ending tend to present more realism. Obviously, I was disappointing that he died, (mainly because you have to play as his dimwitted son afterwards), but I enjoyed the story for what it was.
And for a Rockstar game, the story was excellent compared to the dribble that crapped out of the GTA series, despite how fun the gameplay was.
It could of been way better, sure. But that's my bit on the ending. I just wish the game didn't have so many ridiculous glitches. Homing sticks of dynamite? Flying people? These were hilarious, but still...wtf.
EDIT: I've just noticed that Fallen has made a post for this game, which is odd, because it didn't turn up in my search. Regardless, I apologize.
EDIT - Added spoiler tags to the spoiler you posted, please remember these in the future - Red Corsairs.
I've been playing the game for awhile now and to be honest. I only play it for the online Free Roam.
Don't get me wrong though. Single Player is great and all but I save Single player for when I am without internet (Which happens to much.) Overall Red Dead Redemption, to me seems like a game you can play for a little bit. Put it down and play something else.
Sorry to drag this thread back into the open but I have a question. I'm playing the game at the moment - about 60% of the way through. Yea it looks pretty but fuck me I'm bored and annoyed at it.
All the way through the single player John keeps on going about what a bad ass he used to be and how you don't want to fuck with him but tbh the way he's letting everybody string him along with "oh yea I know where X bad guy is, I'll help you if you just give me a hand with this" before a quest and then "oh woops I'm not quite sure any more, give me a bit more time" is REALLY starting to piss me off. It was ok with that Docter dude but every single character is the same. John keeps threatening to do shit and never does. And mean shit I would have made an example of one of those time wasting morons by now - probably that Mexican Revolutionary who won't stop singing or his wailing excuse for a missus.
Basically what I'm asking is: Is there any point in continuing on with the game or is it yet more of him being lead around by the nose by npcs who can't seem to tie their own shoe laces?
Now please before anybody takes umbridge - I do love sandbox style games - I've played Fallout New Vegas twice,Morrowind, Borderlands god knows how many times and the orginal Mercenaries title (which I loved). Liked them all. I've heard people rave about the epic story of RDR but its really not grabbing me.
