Update: They're now at over $1 million dollars, and the Vampire level deal has gotten farking insane! 190 really awesome models for $100, amazing and cheap options. Seriously, get on board this now, 4 days to go and then it's gone! Remember, downside is delievery isn't until March next year, upside is that you get pretty much every fantasy RPG model you could ever want. Get on board now, or miss out!

Update: They've got over $750,000 pledged now, and the additions to the deal keep on coming. 7 days to go. Mini cases for $25, Dragons and giants for $10, all sizes of beasties make it pretty amazing. There are more than are shown in the pictures here, go take a look!

It seems Reaper minis have jumped on the Kickstarter bandwagon in an effort to raise some money to shift more of their metal line over the their new "Bones" plastic line. They were looking for $30,000, and have now raised (checks site) $450,000 dollars, and they keep piling extra things into their deals.

Now, they have some basic levels, but the one that counts is the Vampire level - $100 plus postage ($25), which now has over 100 minis in it, and they keep on adding more as the total goes up.

Downside is that they haven't actually got the production facilities ready for these things yet, so you won't take delivery until March next year - a pretty long wait.

Up side is that you get enough RPG Heros, monsters, baddies and whatnot to play pretty much any fantasy RPG you feel like. Also, some good conversion opportunities for WFB.

Clockwork dragon - always wanted something like this for an IKRPG campaign

Fucking amazing undead dragon

Oh, and you see those giants and dragons and things going for $10 or so? Yeah, they aren't small at all.

Whatever game you like. Reaper seem to aim their minis at the rpg mini market. Minis for characters and encounters in dungeon crawl rpg's and the like. They do some cool stuff too. I want the Sophie model on the motorbike but i cannot seem to find it. I have a couple of the sophie models from a few years ago.

Looks like a damn good deal. But what game are they for?
Fantasy RPGs generally (D&D mostly), though there's quite a few things in there which would be great for Warhammer Fantasy (especially some of the big stuff), or other types of RPG. There's also some Chronoscope stuff in there which is a bit more futuristic.

I know. I haven't had a stable game of D&D in ages, and I've a lifetime of accumulated generic fantasy miniatures lying around.
My father owned a game store for fuck's sake. We had our pick of the old Ral Parthas when it closed down

But my inner bargain hunter just can't turn that aside.
Especially if they make their last goal and it becomes over 125 minis for $100...throw in a case to carry them all for an extra $25 maybe? Or else spend that $25 on 3 big meaty dragons...

As someone who paints miniatures just for the hell of it, I see myself getting a lot of use out of them. However, I think for the average gamer, it's only worthwhile if you have a steady D&D group.

Hey, Horus...wanna paint mine too? :p

No, chances are most of them won't be used (though maybe it'll prompt me to get a game going), but as a casual toy collector (read as 'transformer addict') I'm used to buying useless things that I'll unbox, play with for about ten minutes then pose on a shelf to gather dust until the whim strikes me to play with them for another ten minutes.

I could spend that $100 on 40k minis, netting myself a couple vehicles and/or a few squads that I may or may not actually use and will most likely mostly end up in my brimming bitz bins

I could buy a half dozen servo skull tape measures and become the coolest kid on the block...

I spent some time looking at the goals and scrolling though all the pics. I'd love to support them, but I can't see myself using all but a few of these minis. Still, they are not lacking for support, they seem poised to hit the next stretch goal.

The Wraith or Ghost levels (at US$25 and US$28 respectively) will net you one of the two Sophies. And in the FAQ it explains how to get more than one Sophie.

Cut the wings off the chic on the chopper and you got a sweet model. Wonder if I could get a space marine on it...

They've added a ton more goals and are at over 600k. Next goal (which should be met within hours) will push the $100 level to almost 140 minis...and unlock a $10 clockwork dragon that looks like it will be fucking amazing.

8 days to go...I won't be at all surprised if they end up giving out 200 models for $100

Had a campaign a while ago where we faced a clockwork dragon... man, I would have loved that model for it. Sure, it was only seen twice, but still, totally worth it for $15.

Seriously, even though orders aren't until next year, I'm finding it harder and harder not to go in for all this stuff. Just such a lot of good stuff.

that is the downside, most of these models won;t ship until next March 7+ months is a long time to wait for some of these beauties...

Presumably they need time to purchase and tool up the new moulds and equipment, plus finalize sculpts on a few (quite a few images are tagged with 'concept art'), produce, box, ship, etc.

Yeah, as said in the original post, the whole reason they're having this kickstarter is to move their model range over to plastic, which they could do piece-meal over several years (as the cost is high to retool, get new machines and so on), or get funding to do a more rapid change over (but that will still take several months to arrange).

I just hope that they left enough time in their estimates to print out the half million models or so that'll be needed to fill the kickstarter orders.
