Probably one of the simplest and most straight forward lists I've written in a while. Considering buying it and running it competitively. Need some opinions, please.

2000 points. Modular Ravenwing.

RW Strike Force - Primary Detachment

Sammael (Warlord)

Black Knights - 3+1
Black Knights - 3+1

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation)

RW Bike Squad 2+1, 2 plasma guns, sgt w/ meltabombs.
Attack Bike w/ Heavy Bolter
Land Speeder Vengeance

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation)

RW Bike Squad, 2+1, 2 grav guns
Attack Bike w/ Heavy Bolter
Land Speeder w/ HB/Typhoon

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation)

RW Bike Squad, 2+1, 2 grav guns
Attack Bike w/ Multi Melta
Land Speeder w/ HB/Typhoon

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation)

RW Bike Squad, 2+1, 2 grav guns
Attack Bike w/ Multi Melta
Land Speeder w/ HB/Typhoon

Ravenwing Silence Squadron (Formation)

Nephilim w/ lascannon
Nephilim w/ lascannon
Dark Talon

2000/2000

The thing I like most about this list is, like I said, it's modular. If you run it this way, you can use the Typhoons and Vengeance to 'spot', giving a BS bonus to your bikes as they zip around. You can also make a different list for the same points and models, and throw all of the RW bikes into the Strike Force Detachment, and combine all four of the speeders into the Support Squadron formation, giving them Strafing Run, Interceptor, and the Ravenshield special rule.

Sorry. I just crawled out of the woods from a two week "camping trip" and feel like I haven't seen 40k in years. I just remember LVO style tournaments only allow like 2 sources for their armies (CAD, Detachment, Allies, Formation). So in those environments piling them all into the Strike Force and Support Squadron would be great. The single bike squad with plasma guns would irritate the crap out of me because it's not the same as the other three, but that's a personal quirk of mine. Overall I like it a lot.

I totally understand the symmetry issues. Due to point constraints I had to make things a little bit different, hence why only 2 of the attack bikes are meltas, etc. My other option would be to downgrade to Melta Guns on a few bikes to upgrade the attack bikes back to multi-meltas, or even use the points somewhere else and have a few truly dedicated tank hunters.

What upsets me is that if I wanted to, the Lion's Blade could stack as many of these RW aux formations as it wanted, but because I don't want any tactical marines, I'm stuck piling them all in to the RW Strike Force. Since the Strike Force allows 12 FA, i should have enough slots as needed.

Decided to make some changes. Not significant, but just a little bit.

RW Strike Force - Primary Detachment

Sammael (Warlord)

Black Knights - 3+1
Black Knights - 3+1

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation) - 'Big Game Hunters'

RW Bike Squad 2+1, 2 plasma guns, sgt w/ combi-plasma.
Attack Bike w/ Heavy Bolter
Land Speeder Vengeance w/ Assault Cannon

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation) - Tank Hunters

RW Bike Squad, 2+1, 2 meltaguns, sergeant w/ combi-melta
Attack Bike w/ MM
Land Speeder w/ MM/MM

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation)

RW Bike Squad, 2+1, 2 grav guns
Attack Bike w/ HB
Land Speeder w/ HB/Typhoon

Ravenwing Attack Squadron (Formation)

RW Bike Squad, 2+1, 2 grav guns
Attack Bike w/ HB
Land Speeder w/ HB/Typhoon

Ravenwing Silence Squadron (Formation)

Nephilim w/ lascannon
Nephilim w/ lascannon
Dark Talon

2000/2000

Weapons and points are juggled to kind of 'task' different units, instead of just making things redundant. Now I feel better about certain units armed with certain weapons!

I love the new "roles" oriented list! I'm with you on the Lion's Blade. It just doesn't seem to be on par with the C:SM versions. And even with all the oversights, the Ravenwing Detachment has really caught my eye as the real gem of the codex.

I rather like how it turned out also. 2 all-around squads, 1 tank hunter, 1 heavy hunter.

ironically, on a very basic level, this army is IDENTICAL to my Saim Hann cavalry list that I'm busy putting together. It even has the trio of fliers (though I think that will be a 'thing' for GW in the future. I predict you'll see two and one in Tau, also).
