So I was looking through the CSM Codex, and while looking at the entry for PMs, and got curious about the weapons entry for them. It says they are armed with a Boltgun, Bolt Pistol, and Plague Knife. Now I am assuming that you either can have a Bolter OR a Bolt Pistol as a ranged weapon, but I am confused as to whether or not the always have a Plague Knife for melee. Basically I am asking if you either get a Bolter (and are assumed to have a Plague Knife), or if you have to take a Bolt Pistol to use a Plague Knife.

I'm not quite sure what it is that is confusing you but the answer is simple. They have all 3 things. At all times. They have a bolter for shooting, a plague knife for CC and a bolt pistol for shooting before charging and for a second CCW giving them +1 attack.

Oh ok cool. I was under the assumption that WYSIWYG decides what weapons you have or dont have.
Ex: If I model them all holding bolters, they dont have bolt pistols or plague knives etc.

But if they have all three options at all times that clears it up for me. Thanks

They may be modeled with a sheathed knife or holstered pistol or the like if you want to be very specifically WYSIWYG

Meh. All the dudes I game with don't really care if it our games are WYSIWYG. Just wondering for if I play a game at a GW store or something, but I don't see that happening to often to be honest.

little fun fact most ppl dont know if your plague marine is attacked someone with t4 or lower u can reroll to wound in cc poison ftw

'Back in the day' Plague marines could use Bolters as Bolt-pistols. So I think you can get a fun mix of them in a squad so it looks good.

Huh. Yea I had no clue about that. I now they wound on 4+ regardless of toughness cause of the plague knives, but I did not know they reroll failed wound attempt if T4 or lower. Good to know.
