Hello all!

I'm currnetly working on the fluff for an Imperial Guard regiment to go with my DIY chapter, but I needed qome help on these points:

Would the fact that an Inquisitor orders the creation of a regiment (I'm thinking of a penal world for that) seem legit?

Does it sound legit for Imperial Guard units to operate more in the fashion of current armies (smaller units, and no or less frontal assaults with thouasnds of guardsmen dying in the first hours), and/or using harassment tactics to destabilize an enemy?

Do Guard regiments also conduct Black ops, or is this a privilege reserved for the Tempestus Scions?

Thank you in advance! :)

Absolutely - they're Inquisitors, they can requisition damn near anything in the Imperium, and given that human life is the currency with the least value in His realm...

Certainly - the Tanith First and Only are a recon/light infantry specialist regiment, specializing in infiltration work. It's an excellent book series, might give you some good ideas about how you do your regiment as they seem to cover similar areas.

Agree with the above. The stereotypical IG is maybe the most common way they operate, but from the fluff I've read it sounds like your IG can really be anything you want them to be (within reason, and your ideas are definitely within reason).

Put it this way; space marines are extremely rare, so in most war situations it's going to fall to the guard to perform every necessary role required to win, including the stuff space marines would typically be called in to do.
