185 points for three sacrificial sacrificial heavy flamers isn't exactly what I would call an efficient use of points. My other big problem with them is that they compete for arguably the most important slot for Tyranids. My elite slots are always filled with either Hive Guard, Zoanthropes, Venomthropes, or the Deathleaper and I don't see my self making room for the pyrovore any time soon.

Oh and I guess just on a final note, they would be much better in that situation if they could assault after using their heavy flamers since their attacks ignore armor. But, that Tyranids are already so good at destroying infantry, it's just unnecessary to have that sacrificial unit that will be ID by str 8.

if they where any good in combat i might but 1 attack (2 on the charge). Ya i wounds on a 2+ but for only 2 attacks each on the charge that isn't very good and a heavy flamer that might blow up isn't that good eaither.
There modal is fantastic but rules are worthless

This is the biggest reason why Pyrovores suck. They shouldn't use a FOC slot or something, then there's a small chance that you'd see them every now and again. No way in hell is it worth it to lose Hive Guard, Zoanthropes or Venomthropes for Crapovores. About the only time I can see Pyrovores being worth their points is if the Tyranids are the Attackers in a Planetstrike game where you can at least Deep Strike in without a Mycetic Spore and set fire to some entrenched infantry.

They don't wound on a 2+, that's Venomthropes.

yeah you would think a creature bred to spit out gouts of fire by the most biologically advanced race would at least outshine everyother flamer style troop in the game. I think the flamestorm cannon outshines (str 6 ap 3) all others. It should atleast rival that. Maybe if it could shoot the flamer template out 6 inches like a huge fireball that would be cool.
