Hi guys,

I'm back witha a new list I need help with. I finally got myself into a tournament and hope I give some tough fight. Since I'm a begginer I got induced into the 900 pts army limit. So once again I stick to my noble GKs to do the job:

HQ
1 Brother Captain
4 GKs Terminator (1 Psycannon) --> Retinue

TROOPS

1 Justicar, Meltabomb, Frag + Krak grenades
2 GKs
2 GKs w/ Incinerator

1 Justicar, Meltabomb, Frag + Krak grenades
2 GKs
2 GKs w/ Psycannon

HEAVY

1 Land Raider

This according to my calculations, sum up to around 910 pts.

Now my first opponent is IG, so I'm kinda confussed on what to use. On the one hand I really like the Land Rider and the mobility it offers to the BC and his retinue. However I also like the idea of using 2 Dreads (TLLC+ML,or AC+DCCW), I think these are good anti tank options (or anti infantry options), but my units will lack mobility. What do you reckon guys?

I see the the IG will pack some tanks and a lot of fodder units.

Hope you'll help me with this list and of course any input and advice is much appreciated!

I would possibly say don't take the LR, at 250pts it is almost a third of your points.

I would say one dreadnought with TLLC + ML. Would say drop the following:

1 Pyscannon PAGK
1 Terminator
and the the meltabombs from the Pyscannon squad.

I would use the extra points for more PAGK.

Thanks for the advice, however if I'm not mistaken the minimum ammount of retinue allowed to the brother captain is 3 Termies, so I should drop all three.

In that case I should have a lot of points to use, but i'm still in the dark about what to use them on.. As you said the use of Dreads is tempting indeed, but the lack of mobility on my GKs still botters me greatly.

If you are facing IG, I would suggest more incinerators in the PAGK and TAGK. TBH, as long as you can get close, the Gk's S 6 will allow them to bust open tanks, or at least render them useless, so I would doubt there would be need for the melta bombs.

As for the extra points, I would suggest that you buy rhinos for the PAGK units, gives them mobility, keeps them protected from like a billion lasgun shots, which WILL wear them down eventually. Plus, I'm pretty sure they are only like 35 points each without upgrades (which you won't need in my opinion) so you will still have points to play with.

With the current edition of the Codex the only transport option available to Grey Knights in PA or TA is the Heavy Support Land Raider. The other options are dedicated Transports and are only for the unit they were bought for.

I would suggest keeping the BC with the 3 Termies and going for three PAGK squads with the rest of your points and maybe squeezing the dreadnought in there.

For you rhinos are a must! An anti tank dread or two would be worthwhile. When going up against guard you'll need alot of anti infanrty and alot of anti tank. Grey Knights in rhinos should be your primary option and you might want to arm both dreadnaught with ML and LC for anti tank (missile can take infantry if needed to).

Again, GK cannot have rhinos, or for that matter any dedicated transport. And as it stands the current codex's rhinos are 50pts a pop. The only things that can take rhinos in the DH codex are stormtroopers and inquisitor lords, and since you're going for a pure list I'm not going to mention them beyond that.

The Hobbz knows what he's doing, I'd follow his advice. Whilst GK do need transports, land raiders are too expensive at this point level. Just pray he doesn't take too many lemons. The only thing I could suggest is that you could make the third PAGK squad a teleport attack squad, in order to just go in and stuff around with that lovely gunline he's going to form. This could work well, since he can't steal your mystics anymore and shoot the bujeezus out of them. Although you'd have to weigh up the pros and cons of having one less scoring unit.

EDIT: just thought I should remind you, the IG dude is only your first opponent- you've really got to think beyond the first game, as well. I'd hate to see you make an awesome guard killing list just to be owned by some other force in the second round.

I Back up the Hobz and Coke123, Landraiders are just too expensive in under 1000.Go For the Dreads.

Also drop the Krak grenades for your Justicar, He`s already Str.6 with multiple attacks, So why would you pay uprgade points to reduce hime to 1 Str.6 attck that only hits walkers on 6s.

I would suggest giving the Brother Captain an Incinerator, as well as putting an Incinerator in the retinue and then deep striking as close to the gun line as possible.

Other than that two dreads would be best for anti-tank (Armed with your fav. Anti-tank wpn...some people like MM, but I prefer the TL Lascanon) and max out your points on the as many PAGK as possible.
