Is it possible? If so it would make my big project so much easier. If not is there a viable alternative?

it may work with a lazer printer, but probaly wont with an inkjet or an older printer as the ink may not dry properly, and as said above it will depend on the thickness of the plastic card

It would definitely not work. Laser burns the pigment onto the surface. Syrene won't take the heat.

Another alternative would be to get some transfer paper and make a water slide transfer to put what you want on there.
