Hey all, pretty simple question here. As I have a spare predator turret lying around I was considering into making a baal out of it. Now my problem is that I only have one spare large assault cannon, the one from the dreadnought arm, and a load of small ones. I was thinking of doing something like one main assault cannon in the middle of the turret, with 2 land speeder assault cannons beside and slightly under that cannon, acting kinda like back up cannons hence the twin linked. Anybody find this a good idea or should I just go for the proper kit?

I think 3 guns might look a bit over crowded, I would be tempted to say go with the two LS ones but they might be a tad small, in light of this I say go for the kit. It has funky sponsons that down break when you look at it funny.

they are very small using just the 2 land speeder ones. What about 3 small ones built into a triangle style?? like a crazy gatling-gatling gun ??

If the turret is going spare then why not go for it?

If it doesn't work, you haven't lost anything (a few bits of plastic maybe). If it does and it looks awesome, then all the better.

Have you tried just dry fitting it together with some blu-tack to see how it looks?

I have yeah. The one big cannon and 2 smaller one looks good, I'm using the cover from a land raider lascannon sponson so they're covered up well too. Just trying out a few things still. The 3 small ones might be better I think... just have to find where I put them ha

Personally i think it'll look great, but it's a little difficult to visualise. Might be a good idea to post some pics of the dry fitting to get the general consensus :)

when photoshop starts working for me I'll post some up. Changed the cover thingy on it and although it's rougher than a badger's arse it is only a concept version at the moment.

Got it! Slightly blurry in a few but I hope you get the overall idea

Now remember it is very rough at the moment. I can clean it up if people think it's worth going for :)

Hmmm yeah I'd have to either push the cover back a bit or maybe adding just a single layer of sprue to behind the cannons to make them come out more. Which option of those two would be best? Thinking go too far forward it'll look lanky and weird, too far bak and it looks stubby and fat

Well I decided to screw dry fitting and just go for it and, apart from a few minor changes, I'm really happy with it. Still rough, joints need filling in and the cover needs to be made more one piece but the whole turret is done. pretty much the same length as the normal turret too so no advantageous modelling either woo!

What do you think??

I'd push it up a little higher so that the top of the armor is level with the top of the mantlet. I'd also halve the length of the armor just so that it doesn't look quite so large. It kind of unbalances the turret as it stands.

hmmm fair point. I made it bulkier to also count as extra armor but yeah it needs work to bring it all together still

thank you :) Main problem with it at the moment is trying to fill in the gaps of the plates while trying to keep it looking uniform...

I also think it looks awesome.

I do however agree with Sanguinary Dan, if you push the armour back a bit and expose more of the guns it'll look more balanced and the super-cool triple Assault cannon will be more obvious.

Perhaps to make it look more balanced you could build up the back of the turret to make it look like it's holding more ammo and stuff. This overall larger turret would also help make the extra armour a bit more obvious. Just don't go too far down that route or it'll look like an old Russian KV1:

well the top plate is showing a good centimeter of the barrel and that's plenty to show It I think. The smaller barrels are kinda hidden by the side plates. I wanted that at first but now I'm not sure if it's such a good idea. maybe making them smaller and straight??
