So...I am terribly fond of using metallic colors for my armies. In this vein, I made the primary color for my Eldar Mithril Silver. It looks pretty good on the ones I have so far. However, I have almost literally painted myself into a corner, as I begun to paint the Howling Banshees. I am not at all sure what to paint their swords. I could paint them silver, but then they would not be distinct at all. Other colors I use alot in this army are red and gold.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to paint the power swords on the banshees?

might try to do the blue light pattern like on the sanguinary guard models on GWs website

Or you could paint the swords chaos black and highlight the edges with mithril silver and maybe drybrush some boltgun metal to make it look worn, But ive tried the black blades and they look pretty cool. also if you make the blade black you could make the edges red, so it has a kind of fire or molten lava feel to it

I would recommend one of two ways to paint a power weapon, first choice would be follow wraithlord's tutorial of power weapons as it is a very popular way of doing it and very effective, or you can always do something similar as to what others have suggested but combining the effects. For my power weapons i always use a black base with lots of contrast and then highlight it up to a bright blue and then to white.

I would suggest seeing what you think fits best with your models.
