I will probably start my next army some time soon, and I want it to just be something like CHARGE, KILL, MAIM, BURN, SLAUGHTER, KILL, CHARGE!

You know, that sort of thing. So, I am not sure whether I should go for Orks or Tyranids.

All advice appreciated (except for 'buy the codexes' - I don't have the money:().

Hmm... Hard choice... Imperial Guard or Daemonhunte... Wait what? XENO SIGHTED! "Yes brother captain, exterminating..."

None, go Space Marines! Use the Blood Angels Codex and do a crazy Death Company and Assault Marine only army and do what you described your plan as... Or just go with the AoBR box and orks... And Space Marines...

lol

My bro is doing BA so I don't really want to do it as well. Space marines in general I don't like. If you are going to do them, do an obscure chapter, or a non Codex one.

Getting back on track, the main reason I'm not sure is that I like the fluff for both armies, and they can both just go and swamp the enemy in numberless hordes.
Individually, Ilike the tyranids because you can use lots of little guys and some huge guys.
I like the orks because of their sheer orkiness.

Problem is, I can't decide between the two.

well orks are the cheaper of the two because ppl are trying to sell off the AOBR orks and keep space marines. Tyranids are extremely expensive and my opinion took away what was the most fun about them in 4th edtion codex. Orks are more competitive and cheaper so I would go with orks.

Experience 1000pts of orks 750 of tyranids

That's easy! Orks are CLEARLY better. Orks are easier to relate to, also. They think along those lines, "Kill, Maim, Burn". You could add "enslave" too. It has been written some tribes wholly enjoy the first 3 and leave out "enslave", if that suits you better? Bugs or "Nids" if you prefer eat and defecate. That's it. I mean, shit, they're bugs right?! On top of that they are incontinent, both fecal and urinary. They are mostly instinctive and if they did think, it would be along the lines of like, "I'm hungry" or "I gotta use the toilet. Ahh, fuck it!".

Orks are fun and competitive. They are killy, shooty, and...stabby. There are more options when it comes to conversions, personalization, and the like. Nids are just crunchy. Oh and don't forget Orks can be MECHANIZED or they can slog it.

search116, how are tyranids not good anymore? And how are they expensive? 10 orks for £15, and 12 hormagaunts/termagants for £15. Also, the monstrous creatures are quite a few pts, so you will only need one or two. Why would tyranids be extremely expensive?

OBTGOG, thats one of the problems, tyranids I would do because I like the models and the fluff, but orks are just soo, orky. Personally, if I had to choose the race I liked the most based on fluff, it would be orks.

I would just go for orks, but something about tyranids seems to attract me for some reason...

Well what is it about each army that you like. Which models could stand to put together 200 of them and then paint them all and still be excited about them? I am biased since I have played and collect orks when GorkaMork came out but I have always found Nids interesting and exciting but I have never owned enough of them to start an army.

Now if your a crazy mek like me that has his brains bashed and bolted togethet many times you could look at your problem of choosing one and say you can have both.:shout:

Thats right in my twisted brain I think you can have both armies. It is well known the war that is going on between orks and Nids. So you can mash an army together that can be orks or Nids. Feral orks could loot the nids and the hive mind could be fighting the orks for control of the army. You can have orks riding them into battle, looting carnifex's for dreadnoughts, warriors for killa kans, tyrant guard or reavers could be Nob bikers, a trygon could be converted to a truck or battlewagon, biovores could be any of the big guns, a brood lord weirdboy, well I think you get the point. With a twisted imagination you could have two armies and you would only each codex to play them as orks one day and Nids the next.

I must stop I am getting ideas for my next ork army.

I was "mostly" just messin around,... "mostly". Nah, I love the Nid models. If I were to start another horde army, I'd pick Nids. I just prefer the Ork army lists and the fact they can be mekinized, if desired. The FORGE WORLD models are redonkulous.

If you actually pay attention to my post I said they took away what i liked in the 5th edtion codex like pimping out a hormagaunt brood so It can easily go toe to toe with KB. I didnt say they weren't good. I was talking about people auctioning off AOBR orks on ebay and look at my country orks are cheaper here

Orkz. I find it hard to play armies without a "personality" like 'nids and 'crons. With orks you can laugh and shout waaagh and all that good stuff.

Thanks tons for all the advice, especially you morfangdakka, + rep for that. :) However, I am now thinking about Daemons.:shok: I know you all think I should do orks, but daemons look cool as well, both fluff wise and game wise. I was planning on doing a nurgle army backed up by some khorne. Any advice welcome.

P.S. Don't be surprised if I change my mind again. I think I have considered doing nearly every army in 40k.

Orks. Because then you have the best of both worlds when you can do something like this:

I'll have to go with Orks, mainly because one factor (albeit a very, very small one) is whether or not I can create good fluff for that army. I can see myself writing an Ork fic. A funny one.

Also, they're generally a funny race.

Also: Scathain, that is th emost epic thing I have ever seen.
