Weblogs make me very sad. For the incredibly scarce actually worth reading weblog, there are literally thousands of boring, banal, or outright stupid gibberish pages created solely to fuel attention-whoring or as an outlet for peer pressure. I would personally rather the entire concept simply evaporated.

Of course, you're all entitled to think differently.

Oh, I wasn't specifically referring to their existence here, I'm talking of the entire concept of internet-based logging. While the rare weblog actually produces some interesting material, they are outnumbered thousands to one by mindless crappy ones. Hence, my utter refusal to ever give my patronage to any weblog service, regardless of the circumstances. If somebody actually wanted to know what I think, I'm certain they'd ask me, thus sparing everybody else the onerous burden of putting up with my juggernautical opinions.

But we're all so fond of your juggernautical opinions :D

I enjoy the rather numerous features that have been added to this site. While blogs are exactly as you describe them, and I think the blogs on this site will go mostly unused, we might get lucky and have one or more that turn out to be diamonds in the ruff. I guess the real question is what do we blog about that we don't already post in the forums? I could blather on about what flavor of ice pop I had today, which no one would give a care about, or I could post things that relate only to 40k, but then those things all end up somewhere on the boards as a topic anyhow. What do you envision us doing with this feture Jez?

I actually had the ongoing projects in mind when I started looking for a blog addon. For example if anyone decides to create a whole army from scratch they could open a blog dedicated to it.
I'm going to use my blog for planning, painting and exectuting my GT journey for the 07/08 season. If I managed to fluke a GT win (yeah dreaming here!) it'd be read by thousands of gamers!

There are countless possibilties.

I can see the use of that. A detailed blog about starting/refinishing a whole army would stand as a monolith for those that view the task and are daunted. Maybe reading someone else's experiences would keep them motivated and help them avoid pitfalls. A fantastic idea.

It's so easy to look at what others have done and think that their results are so high and unattainable (like painting skills, or uber GT armies, etc) a bit of a walkthrough like a blog showing how it was done is certainly motivational. Maybe a blog for tutorials on how to do stuff. Painting tips, army building tips, etc.

I am not one for blogging either but I can appreciate one that is well done and informative, etc.
