I suppose maybe I got a little over eager? I still think it would be fun as hell to use a Herald of Khorne this way, even if @Vaz's tank blows everything up.

You only need to know about 2 units in this list:

1.) Aquila Macro Cannon Strongpoint: Void Shield upgrade
2.) Herald of Khorne

So the rest of the list is mostly irrelevant, because you're dropping nukes that at most scatter 5"!:laugh:

Here's the list I came up with at 1500 points: Chaos Daemons/Renegades

HQ:

Herald of Khorne (Embarked in main bunker component)

Renegade Command Squad: Covenant of Tzeentch (Embarked in medium bunker component)
Renegade Enforcer x2: One joined to each unit of Mutants

TROOPS:

Bloodletters x10: (Embarked in main bunker component): 4 manning Heavy Bolters, one at each fire point

FAST ATTACK:

Wyvern Squadron (3)

FORTIFICATIONS:

Aquila Macro Cannon Strongpoint: Void Shield, 4x Heavy Bolters

Ta-da! Fuck flyers, just ignore them. Use the cannon to take out priorities, Salamanders rush ahead to screen the Spawn and unleash heavy flamers if possible. Spawn charge the survivors and claim the objective. Wyverns either hidden from LOS if there's lots of anti-armor, or in LOS if not too many scary guns on the table. Bloodletters charge out of the building if anyone thinks about assaulting it. Deep Strike the Soulgrinder as a sweet distraction unit that wants to crush the shit out of things.

Wait, I can only take it in Apocalypse games? Whoops... Does that mean I need to add another 1,000 points to the list to use the fortification? I guess I need to read through the books some more and see what options are out there that would get through the shield and fortress quickly. I guess I just got excited about the fortification and didn't think beyond that. All excited about nothing, eh?

That tank does sound nasty, 4 shots is pretty nuts. But couldn't the cannon have a shot at stripping hull points from those, too? Maybe it is worth just going a few hundred points more for a Warhound, if I'm gonna be throwing around that many points on superheavies. What else would be in your army?

You could bring the Titan, but they both outrange you and have AV14 and a ton of hull points. The Falchion doesn't have 4 shots, but it has a single SD shot, and that's all it really needs - a couple of turns makes any fortification into slag really - and you're going to be going up against stupid things like Invisible Phantoms in Apocalypse, or Zarakynel.

Apocalypse just doesn't work, really for competitive gaming.

Having an aquilla doesnt make it an apoc game. But at 500+ pts and using a apoc megablast kinda does. I guess you need to find a way of casting invis on your aqilla to stop templates hitting it, and screw over other shots... the great thing is the whole aqilla is the same model, so would cover it all.
wack a nice pair of void generators for bubble protection and it could be nice.
