Hey guys,

I did post here a while back, but today I splashed the cash! By the end of the week (once the mail order stuff arrives!) I'll have a hot, sleazy, get the enemy on their kneesy Slaanesh force.

I bought the battleforce box set, and interestingly enough I'm using absolutely none of it in this list! I will have some spare Noise Marine models, and I haven't assembled anything yet so the Lord could be a Sorc, but as the title suggests I don't want to run a lash list. Why? It's viewed as being pretty cheesy in my club. With that in mind, what make you of this?

HQ

Daemon Prince 160
Wings, Warp Time, MoS

Chaos Lord 160
Termie Armour, Blissgiver, Combiflamer, IoS

Elites

4x Aspiring champ Terminators 220
1 powerfist & heavy flamer, 3 x dual lightning claws

Troops

3 x 6 Noise Marines (666!)
1 asp champ, doom siren, pfist, Icon
1 x blastmaster
4 x Sonic Weapons

Heavy Support

Land Raider 235
Havoc Launcher

2 x 2 Obliterators 300

Daemons

Greater Daemon 100

8 x Daemonettes 104

The lord runs with the termies in the Land Raider. Extra icons/champs in the NM squads allow summed daemons. Points are pretty tight at 1999, is this viable? Do I need a lash for the DP? Who's going to give me bother?

Cheers fellas
Stu

PS forgot to add, I haven't actually played a game of 40K in about 15 years!

I'd recommend changing your noise marine squads around. Run either a squad of 6 with the blastmaster and 5 sonic blasters, or a squad of 8 with sonic blasters and a PW champ with doom siren and MBs. The reason you wouldn't want to run both a PF champ and a blastmaster in the same squad is because the blastmaster basically says, "I like to stay back and blow things up." While the champ says, "I wanna get up in peoples' grills and wreck their $#@&." This really divides up your squad and will cause you to waste a decent number of points. Either you're in cc using the champ, unable to fire, or you're standing back blowing things apart while the champ just stands there watching.

Other than that, the list looks great. I love the Blissgiver, I run one on a biker lord and it does wonders. Termis with MoS and LCs are just brutal, I also run them and they just eat through things so fast.

Hope this helps. ^_^

Hi Deux,

Thanks, that is sound advice. The saving made from the 3 powerfists and doom sirens gets me a possessed Vindicator! Costs my pocket a little extra, but the list now looks like this:

HQ

Daemon Prince 160
Wings, Warp Time, MoS

Chaos Lord 155
Termie Armour, Blissgiver, Combiflamer, MoS

Elites

4x Aspiring champ Terminators 220
1 powerfist & heavy flamer, 3 x dual lightning claws
Land Raider 220

Troops

3 x 6 Noise Marines 600
1 asp champ, Icon
1 x blastmaster
4 x Sonic Weapons

Heavy Support

Vindicator 140
Daemonic Possession

2 x 2 Obliterators 300

Daemons

Greater Daemon 100

8 x Daemonettes 104

Total: 1999

Really keen to this put together, paint it and get it on the table!

the only thing I would change is to get at least Extra armor on your raider. it sucks having that thing just stuck there. drop the dual claws on the termies and give the raider deamonic possession. if you don't want that just get extra armor and with the extra points give a combi melta on the termies

You should have Daemonic Possession on your Land Raider, though I wouldn't take off the lightning claws. In fact if you are are ever able to, I recommend all your terminators have dual lightning claws, right now... lets take care of what needs to be done first.

1. Daemonic Possession: Where would I get the points? I would take away to Greater Daemon. Sounds crazy at first, but firstly, you don' really have a suitable model to sacrifice for him. The aspiring champions are too expensive to waste, not to mention you need them to support your squad in close quarters.

2. Power Fists: YOU NEED THEM BACK! Power Weapons only do a wound a turn statistically, a power fist kills everything basically, once you hit. Better off with the powerfist.

3. Chaos Lord: As a strategical move, a Daemon Prince both price and competetive wise is a lot better than getting a Lord.

4. Lesser Daemons: Because you aren't really daemonette rules, you don't have the initiative to work coherently with the rest of your army. I take these out.

I wouldn't drop the lesser daemons unless you pick up another troop choice as you are bit light for 2000 points! I would have stuck a CF on the termie squad rather than the PF
With your NM squads I would set 1 of them up for CC, in support with your termies, DS and either a PF or PW and drop the BM for that squad and give them a rhino!
I to would be tempted to drop the GD, the only basic champs you have got to sacrifice are the ones in the squads at the back (static NM's) and you really don't wanna be foot slogging that mumma!
Also at 2000 points be weary of a lone vindie they often get targeted quite quickly!
Either drop two oblits and run two vindies or drop the vindie! And use the spare points to boost your troop choices up!
P.s single lash isn't too cheesy! Maybe worth considering due to amount of blats you have!

I like what your trying to do, so I'm going to help out.

First if your taking Daemon Princes, then you need two, especially in games as large as 2000 points.

The same goes with the Vindicator, you need two.

I'd also throw in a fourth troop choice and make all the Noise Marine squads larger (I know your going with fluff here, but six marines won't last too long against a lot of foes).

Again, thanks for all the replies :drinks:

I'm immovable on the Daemons. I love them. My Marines quite literally worship them. So, they stay. Tempted with bulking out the Noise Marine squad, but the 666 is an Omen, so I'm loathe to mess with it.

It does leave me some tough choices though, as you guys are right; I need a delivery system for the greater Daemon. Having a 100 point GD possess a 55 point terminator makes no sense.

My main problem now; do I go for 2 vindicators, no greater daemon, and 2 Oblits? That does look pretty tempting, but it still leaves me short on troops. Might go for this with a lash prince instead of warp time. Makes me a bit sad, but one lash shouldn't be too cheesy and still fits with the army theme.

Other option is no Vindicators, have 3 Oblits (keeping the Greater Daemon) and throw in 8 CSMs including a champ in a rhino. This delivers all the Daemons and gives me more troops.

I'll probably go for the second option for now, as it's easier on the pocket. Thanks for all the replies though, it's given me a lot to think about!

for noise marines, EVERYONE w/o a blastmaster needs a sonic blaster - even champs

IF your gonna run blastmasters, it should prolly be done with a group of 5 w/o a champ. - you have I5 standard, if your going against marines youll still strike 1st

if you dont run blastmasters - they arent even THAT good for their points unless its Geq or the unlucky SM squad - but im biased - they havent done me a load of good unless a units save is 4+ at best in 9+ games

if you want a CC oriented NM squad 8-10 w/ a champ w/DS & PW (IMO) is the best way to go, why PWs? cuz they are I5 base, why give that up? ya you prolly wont kill as many a turn, MC heavy lists i can see using PFs, but the average marine player? just add melta bombs...dont forget rhinos

imho lash princes arent that good, just over-hyped, Oh - your awesome CC unit of doom? its moving farther away from my stuff...
