Seriously, I have seen more convincing arguments that the Emperor was Horus....The Night Haunter is dead, we pretty much know that M'Shen (Or however it is spelled..) killed him. Konrad wanted to die as people have mentioned, from what I can recall, he despised that he had let his Legion fall from grace (Well, that is my opinion, dunno what others think..) so why would he want to leave, and let it continue? I think he died as a symbol personally, so that he didn't have to continue on with the Night Lords..
