I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for a new squad for any paticular army. Anything from stats to pictures to fluff is welcom.

Ill start off with an addition to the Necrons. These guys I saw in the movie Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Think they should be called the Oni. They are the one acception to the overall "walking dead" of the Necrons. The Oni are a race of creatures that have been "touched by death", their bodies have been mutated and their will has become bound to that of the Necrons. I think they should be like a squad of monstrous creatures (2-4) that are CC beasts and fast. They would count as a Heavy Support squad and be armed with a good tank buster. Preferably a melta weapon S8 AP1 (assualt 1). This squad would be pretty expensive, but very versitile. Not sure about any upgrades, maybe one may be upgraded to some heavy duty flamer...

Anyway, post any squad for any army and whatever info about them that you like.

well with the alines from FF there i agree with the necron bit sounds cool.

yea heavy support is a good pick for them, but don't make them CC monsters look there have huge missle like guns i rekon it should be like this maybe? heavy 3 Ap 3 S 8 or fire heavy 1 S10 AP 1 shot and they can have 2 attacks that a either power fist or power weapon, but cannot be both and they can move and fire heavy weapons

The Phantoms in the FF movie have missile launchers, but I jsut wanted to make them a little more original. Thinking about it now, the missile launchers sound a lot better for them. They could be some sort of organic missile launcher or something. The Oni could act like Wraith Lords, can move and fire heavy weapons and still kick some tail in CC. I also like the idea of squading these guys instead of having them be loners, although to do this they couldnt be too powerfull. So im thinking of a missile launcher that is something like S7 AP3-4 Heavy2-3. For CC they would have powerfists (Just look at those left arms!!!)

Well, I've recently started a Tau army. I really like the models, but I wouldn't mind a bit more variety when it comes to units, so I've been throwing around a few ideas I could use for Apocalypse games.

The Tryton. Heavy tank / skimmer. Basically a Tau variation of a Baneblade.

Fire Warrior Heavy Weapons Platforms. Similar to the Crayfish designs you may have seen floating around online, these small, agile walkers can move quickly across difficult terrain with ease, carrying two Fire Warriors armed with heavy weapons and markerlights, used primarily as tank busting units.

Vespid Fire Gliders. In the fluff, the Vespid are held in high regard by the Tau as trusted and capable allies, however the only available in game units are Stingwings. I think it would be cool if the Vespid were better represented on the tabletop. Vespid Wargliders are short range flyers, equipped primarily with anti infantry weapons, they are fast and deadly, but vulnerable.

Kroot Chariots. Driven by Krootox or Knarlocs, these Kroot transports are used to rush Karnivore and Headhunter squads into the frontlines.

I havn't really thought about stats, upgrades or anything specific for these units, these are just the rough ideas I'm working with. I'm also putting together some human auxileries for my Tau, using plastic Catachan and Fire Warrior bitz, but I understand these units are officially approved.

personaly i woudln't make them as powerfull as wriathlords though, they don't seem to have the toughness that they have.

flamer could maybe be like twin linked heavy flamer? or maybe have the same stats as a heavy flamer but instead of one template maybe two?

For the daemonhunters, chaos, or witchhunters; a squad of chocolate ghosts that shoot 9000 degree fudge out of their guns. Beware their delicious powers!

But seriously, maybe something like space marine ork hunters or eldar hunters. Why should nids be singled out?

Those already exist, although not in smurf Special Character form. You can select a trait which gives you preferred enemy against Orks, Eldar, or Tyranids, though it pretty explicitly states you've got to do some heavy modelling for it to count.

I'd like to see the return of Rapier and Tarantula batteries to the Imperial armouries-- they're completely unnecessary, but they'd probably count as Artillery units in this day and age, which would at least make it so the unit type gets used more often than not. As it stands, the only Artillery units in the game are Orky big guns and Eldar support platforms... sort of skimpy for a unit type selection, I think.

i was going to modify some Necron Warriors to make a unit of Necron Shades (snipers).
they are armed with Gausse Lances (not sure about the name), which use the sniper rules. squads of 4-10, 25 points each, infiltrate, necrons.

what do you think?

I would make Grey Knight Jump-pack troops. It would be awesome to see grey knights jumping across the battlefield.:shok:

I'd just like to see the non-super-heavy/non-flyer/non-mass Forge World models printed in the upcoming Dex releases.

Gimme back the Executioner, Vanquisher and Griffon Mortar for the IG.

Give the Marines back their Mortis-pattern Dreadnoughts.

Give the Eldar back their pants.

Give the Orks a brain worth frying.

Give the Ordos back their Repressors.

lalalalallalala gripe whine beyotchin etc... lalalallaal

Gausse Lance sounds like something for CC and very short range. "OH! I'm gunna hit you with my lance from the opposite side of the board! AHA!"
Id go with something simple, like "The super amazing gausse rifle of death" or the "I don't care, im still going to kill you gausse rifle of death"

Nice idea about Sniper Necrons. Although fluff-wise its not really going with the current flow. But then again Necrons don't have a huge amount of unit fluff anyway so anything can really happen.

For me I'd love it if Arbite Squads could be included in IG/DH/WH as a official unit rather than the piddly little entry that it currently has in the WH Dex. Just something as simple as a option to turn Storm Troopers in Arbites, much like you have Terminators and Assualt Terminators. I'm thinking maybe shotguns or power-mauls (ccw with +1ST) and Riot Sheilds (6+ Inv Save in CC).
