Hey guys i'm completely new to blood angels and have no idea where to start. I would like to start with a small 500 Pts army list so any help would be appreciated. Any already made list or advice on how to make a list is welcome and appreciated.
Blood Angels tend to be an elite force so mostly they aren't numerous and have high point cost at the same time. At 500pts they'll most probably be both outgunned and outnumbered but the higher the point limit is, the better their synergy works.
Basics:
- you need 2 troops and one HQ;
- take assault marines as troops 'cause it's BA way;
- assault marines mostly go in units of 10 with 2 meltaguns and PF (and arrive by Descend of Angels) or ride in Razorbacks in units of 5 (because their transports are fast and you get them at discounted price);
- take Baal Predators when you can (unlikely in 500pts) - they can support both JP marines and Razorback spam;
- sanguinary priest is the greatest boon to your close combat force (should have one if you can).
2 variants below are "small mech" and "small DoA":
Librarian
+ Shield of Sanguinius, Unleash Rage
Assault squad
+ Power weapon
+ flamer
+ Razorback
+ TL assault cannon turret
Assault squad
+ Power weapon
+ flamer
+ Razorback
+ Lascannon/TL plasmagun turret
Attack bike (in bigger game fast attack slot should be occupied by Baals, IMHO)
+ Multi-melta
Librarian
+ Blood Lance, Unleash Rage
+ Jump pack
Sanguinary Priest
+ Jump pack
Assault squad
+ Power weapon
+ meltagun
+ 1 extra marine
Assault squad
+ Power weapon
+ hand flamer
+ meltagun
+ 1 extra marine
Maybe they aren't the most competitive, but they give you the idea of how BA can play. So it's up to you - decide if you need to pack a load of Razorbacks or extra flying assault marines.
As above, they beat me to it. I bought a rather large army after doing some research on it. Is Budget at all a concern? I'd go with the three assault squads as troops, with a librarian as an HQ.
Thanks for the quick and helpful comments so far. I'll look into the troop choices some more. Money is not a concern at all, as in what so ever. I like to try the armies on the board rather then buy a big army straight off, and figure out I don't like them. I'll put together an army list after a few more comments. Thanks again!
Depending on who get's first turn the Baal can scout forward or outflank, scouts can sit on an objective and give supporting fire and go to ground if need be to survive. ASM w/ libby can either deepstrike or hop behind the Baal for some cover and if they are caught in the open shield can at least provide a little extra safety, plus with unleashed rage you stand a good chance of getting a lot of hits and at lower point games their typically won't be a whole lot of really hard to kill units on the table so regular attacks should be sufficient.
Well if you aren't doing a game that requires scoring units, I would go all out DC... They combine assaultiness and straight out intimidation... besides the DC Dreads just look AWESOME!!!
