I currently have a squad of 1 sergeant and 5 assault marines and was going to add a new set of assault marines to make a full squad of 10.

The 6 models I have are all on 25mm bases and the new models come with 32mm bases - would it be best to get new bases for my existing models to keep them all the same?

The same problem will apply to the devastators and tactical marines as well. Will we eventually have to buy new bases for all our models?

Thanks in advance.

personally I rebased mine to all the same but also they look better on the 32mm base, and about £3 from gw for 10.

but as to the question I don't think there any rule saying you have to change the base size of all your original models.

Thanks kickboxerdog.

If they look better on the bigger bases then I'll get a set for them.

I haven't seen anything about having to rebase all models from GW but was interested to see what other people thought or were doing with their existing models.

Thanks ntaw.

I see your point about the bigger base on models with jump packs. I was curious to see what other members thought after using the larger bases on their models - I will be sending for some from GW soon.

I kept mine on the old bases, I tried to switch my character bases out but they were bonded too tight to the old base and without a saw they ain't making it out in one piece :(
Had no issues though, librarians abit top heavy and makes for asymmetrical formations but oh well :)

You don't have to change - But you have the option to do it. All new models you buy will most likely have the bigger sizes and they do come with advantages.

I rebased all of my Chaos Marines to the new 32mm, for more board control and less vulnerability to blasts and templates overall. And honestly, it looks ace!

Thanks Kiro the avenger!

I had thought about the effect of the blast templates as well although at the moment I am more building and painting models than actual gaming - but I like to keep my collection up to date enough so that when I get back to gaming the models comply to the rules. I was going to get one of the new terminator librarians to use with my Dark Angels Deathwing but didn't know which base to use for it so I'll go for a 32mm on it.
Everyone seems to think that the bigger bases look better as well.

I also have a chaplain with jet pack and the lord executioner model which I think I will base on the 32mm as well.

Terminators are a different base size as well. They use a round 40mm base.

Thanks Kiro the avenger! - Sorry I sent you the wrong reply last time

I have a chaplain with a jet pack and the lord executioner model which I think I will base on the 32mm bases as well. I don't have any character models that I can't replace the base on. I intend to leave my tactical marines on the 25mm bases for the time being as some are from Assault on Black Reach and Dark Vengeance sets that have slotted bases.

The consensus seems to be that the bigger bases look better.

Thanks Kreuger .

I think my brain must have been in neutral on that one - I only have standard terminators and no character ones yet so wasn't thinking about the different base size!
Hopefully GW won't be changing all the bases sizes.
