BloodCri's Army

Does anyone have any tips I can use to improve them? (the first pics of celestine and the canoness are complete save for the base)

I've switched her gun out with an inferno pistol since this pic

Saint Celestine was painted almost entirely with washes and the reflection on the glass table is nifty :3

Her wings are magnetic too (I hadn't finished sculpting the finished backpack yet.)

A shot of the final with my exorcist and a seraphim thrown in. I know the green BG sucks but I'm too busy (watching Xena) to take another.

i reckon that they all look pretty good.
however you should use some more washes on the seals because they look a bit bright.

also i would refer to it as "your army", because your "sisters army" would most likely be Eldar if she collected warhammer... :biggrin:

Their eyes look like they are hyped up on stims. Other then that very nice.

I fixed the name. I dont have *that* many colors. I'll probably go back and fix them up once i get more.

It's 40K dude, I wouldn't be particularly surprised if they were.

I like these, but I'd like to offer a few ideas:

1. Blood Red is a very transparent colour - it's very easy to see the colour underneath it when you paint it on. To counter this, I use a light brown (Calthan Brown, Khemri Brown are both good examples) as a basecoat on the areas i'm going to paint red.
2. Highlighting black is always going to be a pain, but you never get better if you don't try eh? I tend to do one of two methods:
a) overbrush Codex Grey on the surface that's going to be black, and then give it a fairly heavy wash of Badab Black, or
b) Do an extreme edge highlight of Adeptus Battlegrey on the hard edges , and then in the middle of the hard edges (I.E. in the middle of the first highlight) do a smaller highlight of Codex Grey.

Still, this is a good start, and good on you for getting the courage to post your stuff on the 'net (the harsh wasteland that it is).

I was going for a dirty look with the red actually. I put a thin layer of white down followed by red black and then shiny red.

a lot of the paints i'm using are Tamiya and not the Citadel paints. (which is why my canoness's skin tone is off but I have those colors now so its cool)

I've found that using a very light grey and drybrushing it on with very very little paint on it over and over creates a very natural looking highlight. these models were painted before i discovered that though ^^;

Yes it is- I use Vallejo 'bloody red', it's exactly the same colour but has a better consistency (and you get more for less). And try washing over the faces with Gryphonne Sepia, you'll be amazed at the difference

I have a little tip that I use when painting black armour that works very well.

What I do is layer it, starting with pure black, then mixing in some codex grey and working up the layers. How much depends on the models, my chaos warriors I went for 50:50 straight up onto the panels, leaving the black in the recesses. With power armour I use 50:50 for the final layer, then add some more for the extreme highlight.

If I can find my camera I'll post up my Chaplain to show you what I mean. Black armour is always a pain as it either looks completely flat or very dusty.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind when I go back and refine them. I still have another 60+ models to paint... :headbutt:
