Hmm I wonder

would an Ork Army based around the German Afrika Corps from WW2 be any good?

Good to look at i mean. From wertypops comment about Vashs German like Ork vechile transport and if was from the Ork Waffen army. Hmmm.... got me thinking.

Orks in desert camo using open topped trucks. Films from WW2 about the subject mainly focus on Germans in half tracks and are normally the Black and white variety. But there is one film that sticks out is the Film called Big Red One with Mark Hammill. Hmmm....

Ahhh Bikes... Opportunity for lovely bike and sidecar conversions with big Shootas. Now im drooling...

that would look great i think. I know there are a lot of people that don't appreciate WW2 german insignia on 40k armies so you'll have to feel out your local opponents or whatever if you decide to add that (i saw one forum where someone was getting kicked around for their imperial guard army and another in the Warmachine forums where someone did Khador that way and started some controversy). But the look I think would be incredible if done right. The color scheme, bikes, half tracks, would they have the spiked helmets? (that would look cool too). Definatley provide us with pics if you start building it!

Yer Spiky helmets in desert camo oooh :D

You are correct about the insignia possibly being an issue, I assumed you all would think i was doing orky glyphs anyway. I agree that the use of the swasticka etc could still cause upset. I had decided on doing Orky versions of the insignia so Orky skulls & Totems and will feature heavily.

The funny thing is my guard army the Novarites are based on the american army with heavy use of the white 5 pointed star, which could be seen as more controversial during todays conflicts.

My intention is never to offend other players and never will be. Im a peaceful lad at heart. I was more worried about german folks being portrayed by orks meself.

On the modelling note there is some lovely conversions in the offing for this army. I see it now to be a garrison force. With one conversion being a battery of Ork Kannons using gretchin and scaled down 88mm guns lol :D

and I wasn't assuming anything for sure, just thought I'd throw in the disclaimer about what I'd seen elsewhere. I think it's going to be a great looking force the way you have it planned, looking forward to it for sure
