Ok, so I had this dream a few days ago, about a game variant for 40K. So here it is:
1. You play it like an escalation league if you've ever done one, but it has a sort of RPG feel to it.
2. The first three weeks, you play with a 500 point army, next three weeks, you play with a 1000 point army, next three weeks, you play a 1500 point army, last three weeks, you play with a 2000 point army.
3. You can have whoever you want in your armies(like fast attack, heavy support, etc.), but all your units must have their basic wargear, no upgrades like exarch, flamer, etc.
4. when a squad kills another squad, they earn the dead squad's points(like a squad of 10 Eldar Guardians is 80 points). Write down how many points you accuire, because you'll need them for after your match. The points you earn allow you to spend those points on more units, or upgrades for existing units, but after the match has ended, these new purchases are used in your battles to come.
5. When a new three weeks comes up, the new point limit just means that's your maximum possible points. You keep all your previous earnings, and you just keep progressing through your escalation league.

Hope this game makes sense to you, if not, I'm sorry. Thanks for reading.

That is actually kinda cool. Only thing I would say is that you would have to specify when upgrades OR new units can be bought otherwise someone will buy a couple new units that will just hose the guy who lost and could only buy a couple small upgrades.

Yeah, that would make it fair. I just can't believe I had that idea in a dream, I actually felt like I was playing it.
