I see nothing wrong with these either, especially for a first try.

I would suggest you take a look in the Tips and Tutorials section of this forum for WeeToySoldiers article on taking pictures. Will really help you out, as well as us as we will be able to make out details better.

Even if you don't have Black Ink, just water down some Chaos Black and use that, its what I do the result is pretty much the same and is a darn site cheaper.

Nice red though.

Will do with the GS soon as i get some, not gonna touch my apostle for a while with paint, not till my skills improve significantly at least  but anyways, working on finishing the sqaud i showed you guys in these pics (plasma guy and champ and a bolter guy) now that Abaddon is finished, and not sure about the ink wash, i kinda like the silver how it is, but maybe it will give them a more aged look, anyways, ill see how it goes :D

Pictures are a bit blurry, but still good enough to make out details. As a fellow word bearer I can say that I like what I see mate! Planning on going all out on hroned helmets somewhere in the future myself.

Really like what you did with the dark apostle, always figured that chaplain looked kind of evil. And with that backpack he has definitely turned to the dark side. Still a few moldlines on it, but its still a WIP so no biggy.

I have a few humble suggestions...yes just suggestions  As torealis said, perhaps a bit of GS to fill out the gaps beneath the swords/arch on the backpack.
The chaplain still has an imperial eagle on his belt, how about cutting of the skull piece and replacing it with some chaosy. Sure you can find something suitable to harvest from a chaos sprue (maybe a shoulderpad symbol)
The same goes for his accursed crozius, still a bit loyalistic. Although paint could really change this, perhaps the toppiece could be replace with something chaosy.
Not entirely sure if it would work but what about the top piece of throt's weapon with somehting chaosy in the middle link
Or this one, inquisitor piece so not sure about the size link
Or the top piece of the left guy link

Going to have to give this one some more though

Well the reason so far ive left those on is once the pain comes, do 8 sided stars over anything impereal on him, much like the renegades, so kinda make a mockery of the impereal creed or w/e

cccp is right, a black ink wash would do wonders. you could also try what i did on my tumpty fists, and that is to use a good old colour wash (red in your case) and then a very thin black wash in the deep lines, really brings out the red.

>> I find flesh wash over metallics gives a nice grimey look to the models. I done it with my Black Legion army, who have no gold trim, but boltgun. Works well, but whatever anyone else thinks!! :D

Looking good there, looks like the legion is growing in number.

A wash of the metal might help add more depth, although this could also just be the picture. An easy way is to water down some chaos black, put some on your brush, whip most of and then gentle give the metal a wash.

Looking forward to the next one!
