Back Round:
The Black Hearts origins have been lost, only recent history is known. The Black Hearts fortress monastery is located on their home world of Kopasta, their home worlds terrain greatly differs from the icy north, volcanic islands, lush forest and harsh seas. In the forest of Kopasta monstrous creatures have evolved. It is believed that one of the test for initiates is to hunt and kill a Ravuz, a huge tiger like beast who can grow up to 10m long and can weigh over 10 tons. Training in the various landscapes of Kopasta, the Black Hearts can deal with almost any terrain.

Some time in M41 the Black Hearts were attacked by hive fleet Jormungandr. Countless tales of bravery and heroism sprung from this battle. Legend claims that Chapter Master Cypher Corbett Refused to leave Kopasta. The chapter was all ready weakened from an unknown battle, leaving them at little more then 800 marines. All though many of the Sargents demanded a retreat, the Chaplains refused to let their monastery be infested by tyranids.
A distress signal was sent out, but the tyranids attack far sooner then expected. In a matter of hours whole land masses were being swallowed. It was not soon after their ships arrived in orbit that they had pushed the Black Hearts to their fortress monastery. It is here that the greatest acts of heroism in the chapters history took place. There are thousands of tales involving this battle although none have been proven. Some stories tell of a chaplain named Camase jumping on to a Mawlocs back and shoving a live krak grenade down its throat. Others tell of a lone devastator squad holding the last line of defense for days. Some tell of unnamed marines sacrificing them selfs in order to protect those who could serve better. One even speaks of a Librarian taking more damage then physically possible, with massive slashes and gaping wounds marching forward and pushing back the tyranid forces. There are countless tales of heroism and bravery.

The battle lasted for days, it was thought at some point the Tyranids some how made their way into the monastery but were pushed back. In the end the Tyranids were crushed and the planet was purified. Although this did not come with out a price Cypher was killed and so were countless marines. Only a small part of the fourth and second company survived, the fortress monastery was in ruins. Kopasta once lush forest was now a dead barren landscape. To this day only 100 black hearts remain.

Black Hearts rituals and traditions are shrouded in mystery, many of the chapters greatest secrets died along with its leaders. One tradition that has held strong is the Black Hearts singing rituals, in order to mourn a death or prepare for battle they will chant and sing poems and song sometimes lasting hours on end. It is even believed that in dire situations a low anonymous chat can be heard in the midst of battle, raising moral and hopes to all who hear it.

This is the all that is known about the Black Hearts. Legends of them spread through out the Imperium, some claiming that they are only myths others see them as immortal gods. Now the Black Hearts wait and rebuild, they wait until they can rise up at full power and fight for the Imperium once again.
