Here is something I have been wondering so the time has come for a poll. What type of army has your preferred play style, mobile or gunline?

For myself, I have to say that I like mobility based armies the best, be it a mechanized force like my Tau or the Eldar or a h2h force with lots of fast units like bikes, raptors, gaunts, etc. I find that gunlines are fairly boring to play and don't suit me at all, enough so in fact that I am going to be selling off the Imperial Gaurd models I bought if the Daemons codex doesn't come out with LatD rules in it. Mobility based armies make for a far more enjoyable and fast paced game imho.

So what's your opinion?

If I have to choose, I would say Mobile. However, the lists I usually run allow me to do both, depending on who I am fighting.

mobility is imo more preferable then a gunline, but to be honest, my fav. army is one with flexibility

Although I originally liked Static (and thus started an Imperial Guard army), I've since developed a sort of thing for Mobile armies ... I think I'm going to have to get a more mobile army like Mech Tau or something...

static lines are great killers, and can be very effective but they have the down side of not being able to take objectives easily. Also if the get overrun they can often be in alot of trouble. finally i find assualt and close combat to be one of the most fun parts.

I get more enjoyment out of a dynamic, action-packed game.

Sitting and shooting a crazy amount of guns isn't all that action-oriented, to me.

So, though I voted Mobility, I honestly have to say I prefer a well-balanced, Hybrid force.

I play armies that fit into both categories. My fave, thus far, is the Mobile Gunline. Both Sisters and Eldar can do this well. IG can too, but I don't have enough Chimmies to make it happen.

my forces have a mix of both mobility and static gunlines, however I have more mobility than gun line, and find mechanised forces to be more fun. Thats why I'm starting an armoured battlegroup

I try to do both gunline as well as mobility, but i lean more towards mobility, that excells in objective style games, but its always good to have a fire base to fall back on

I think mobility is best, mobile forces can go to a static gunline and use mobility later in the game to shoot and then evade CC Armies. Where as the gunline has a difficult time going from point A to B in a hurry when mobility is needed in a pinch.

mobiles better if you have the cover, gunline will win in sparse scenery set up's I often go hybrid but of the two i prefer mobile as it takes more tactics to use well

I like using Gunline tactics for the core of my list, then mobility for objective capturing and hitting my enemy's key units.

This allows me to react to my enemies with some flexibility for a well balanced list.

But if I had to fully chose one over the other it would be Gunline with many small units to maximize the amount of heavy weapons I can bring into the battle. (I'm currently playing as SM.)

I find that you can take objectives fairly well with either, it just depends on what part of the game you want to gain control.

Mobile armies can get to the objectives first and hopefully dig in, but some gunlines can still blow them away, even in cover. Gunlines might not reach the objective until the 5th or 6th turn, but they tend to do so in a larger number than mobile, provided they're played well in the begining.

Personally I play both; it's part of the reason I enjoy (or did enjoy) having multiple armies.

Mobility.
Because we ALL know that cutting and mangling your opponent in close combat is cooler than propping your gun on a tripod, putting on autofire and relaxing with a cup of tea/green sludge/blood.
But then again, I play Tau. Oh well, just call me Farsight!:laugh:
Stay-n-shoot armies are no fun. My Tau strategy is move, fire, do a close combat kamikaze if you get wounded severely.
