Would you participate in Heresy Online Mini Exchange? (everybody paints a miniature for another participant)

The idea is to sign up for the Miniature Exchange, paint a mini, and send it to someone else on the list.

The list would be managed so everyone got a mini and nobody got duplicates.

I figure this would be a cool christmas/ holiday/ new years idea.

Anyone interested?

I love the idea of mini exchanges. I have participated in several of these and they are always fun. The one thing that may put some people off is the idea of painting a mini for some. I know I would be afraid to send a mini to someone that I knew had better skills than me. Also what if you can't match someones painting style or chapter color.

I think more people would participate if it was contert a mini and send it to someone or send them one or two unassembled new models. Since everyone can use models.

My original thought was for people to find something in their inventory, whatever inventory that is, whatever army...and paint it up to the best of their ability (whatever THAT may be) and pass the mini along to their assigned recipient.

While it is possible that I could end up getting Wraithlord or Viscount Vash or one of the other superstars on here (my painting skills are middling at best) the goal is to send a nice gift that is memorable from a pal online. Put it on the shelf and have a conversation piece. The overall skill of the paint job will be the best that person can do, so no matter who gets it, it'll be appreciated (I'm fairly certain).

Does that sound interesting?

Any other thoughts on how to do it?

I like the idea bu I don't think I could afford the postage to another country. And theres the never give away your personal information to people you don't know in person.

Fair shout.

Here's the "Plan".

We have a list of voluntary participants.
Like So: [examples only]

Lord Sink
Firewolf,
Jigplums
Jezlad
Wraithlord
CCCP
Viscount Vash
Elchimpster
Red Hook Rusty
Torealis

Then we have the instructions:
Everyone paint up one figure of any type to the best of your ability. Top shelf work. Take your time. If you'd like to contact the recipient (see below) and give them options (assuming you have variety in available figs) go ahead, but this is actually optional.
Once you complete the fig, mail it to them. No need for Next Day Air or anything...the cheapest rate is just fine (I've received packages from the UK that cost 1.58 GBP to post or approx $3 US...so this isn't expensive by any stretch).

Determining The Recipient:
Everyone on the list mails a mini to the name below theirs on the list. Contact that person via PM and get a mailing address (no need to give out any secret information like Social Security Numbers or anything, just a mailing address)

I'd like to have a list determined by DECEMBER 10, 2007, so folks can get crackin' and get stuff shipped out and arriving by New Year-ish. (well...early January).

If people want to continue, I'll develop lists after one is completed, so reasonably this could go on all year.

Another option would be to have people sign up and mention where they live and where they are willing to ship to.
(for example only)
Lord Sinkoran UK-Uk
Morfangdakka USA- Anywhere

This way if people are willing to ship international then they can. If people only want to ship in their country they can and those that are willing to ship international will have that option.

That's doable.
Simple enough.

That sounds pretty cool, I would love to do this, but unfortunately time is short at the moment. I got other Christmas gifts to paint up....

If this is happening after the new year, count me in...

I am in.....although it might be more pricy for somebody to send something to good ol' Holland.

I'll have a rummage through ye olde bitsbin and see what I can come up with. If I can find the time I might even go completely overboard and start converting

I'm in, I'll ship anywhere in the continental US.

Are we doing only 40K figs, or fantasy as well? (I have a few bretonnians and orcs lying around that I never bothered with.)

Maybe so that each person get something they can use, we should compile a list of what other people have and are willing to paint, i.e. I have spare space marines, inquisition, and guard figs, as well as a few space orks, and the aforementioned fantasy figs.
