The link doesn't work, so I have no idea, unfortunately....

But yay! Metal rules! \m/

Just wondering, are there a lot of metalheads here?

And also, what are you people's favourite metal albums from the past year?

My top 3 list:

1: Machine Head - The Blackening (Really, this album is just epically awesome, maybe one of the greatest albums EVER! Buy this one.)
2: Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
3: 3 Inches of Blood - Fire up the Blades

maybe librarium is down.

a few good records out this year....

the blackening by machine head. yeah it was good, but there are better.
orchestra of wolves by gallows.
rise of the tyrant by arch enemy.

under the over by down - overrated imo.

although, the best record iv bought all year is probably the jester race, or clayman by in flames.

Well, the new Down album is supposed to be good, yeah. But I somehow just don't like the band that much...

And Gallows is punk. Also, the album is from last year.

And Arch Enemy... Dunno, I just never liked them eigther. May be becasue Angella Gossow scares me...

Power metal for me. Hammerfall, Dragonforce, and of course the almighty Iron Maiden. Also a little known band called Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftan.

Hehehe, wondered when that would happen :)

The 2 bands I have been listening to the most lately are Tool (always without fail) and Diecast. Nowhere near the same I know but Tool is number one for me and yet Diecast, while being far more heavy and more grind core than anything is really catching my interest lately. Especially the entire cd Tearing Your Blue Skies Down. Had that pumping at work the other day (before xmas vacation) and ended up having an eight foot no walking zone around me due to the unexpected moshing people would experience while walking past me :fuck::laugh:

I'm kinda a metalhead - in that I did used to listen to a lot when I was a teen/early 20's (when Cannibal corpse were getting into trouble for their song titles/lyrics).
I still like Ozzy, Sabbath and Maiden, but I also like Nightwish and Archenemy, and think that Christina Scabbia is hot.
Christina Scabia is hot as hell, but her band sucks... That's such a shame...

I didn't care much for Nightwish's new album, Dark Passion Play. Seemed okay for them, expected more from the music, did like the idea of 2 discs, one with symphony and one normal. I preferred Epica's The Divine Conspiracy, heavier for them, but again not their best either. I still say symphonic metal is still metal!!!

For the best album I have heard in the last year is probably Megadeth even though they redid one of their own songs, although I did like Symphony X's Paradise Lost and Sonata Arctica's Unia better than Ozzie's Black Rain (think I have all the names right and years, could be wrong though)

Same. I preffer it straight up heavy, with no synthetic symphonic keyboard gayness. But not extreme stuff. Never really liked extreme metal, but except from that, I have a pretty allround taste. From Slayer to Dream Theater, from Judas Priest to Machine Head.

But hey, any folk metal fans here? Or at all any people familiar with this fantastic genre?

Got into battle metal recently, stuff like Turisas they are an excelent band both in the studio and live, who ever thought of doing Boney M's Ra-Ra Rasputin to metal. When I'm painting can't beat a bit of Manowar.
Must confess though I've always been more into street punk like Rancid

Metal's the only music for me, with Thrash at the top of the list. I generally started with the older bands, then worked my way up to the more heavy stuff...although I still have a healthy liking for the classics (Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, Iron Maiden, etc. etc.).

To DuesMortem, I'm definatly familiar with Folk, but I don't have much of it. A friend of mine is really into it, but the stuff he listens to seems to almost cross into Death. It makes for a strange blend.
