The brand new range of paints from Citadel that leaked a while ago have arrived, and they are gorgeous!

Skullcrusher Brass, Stormhost Silver and Fulgurite Copper are nice looking metallics and likely the shiniest available from Citadel. I especially like Stormhost Silver as I do not like the currently available Runefang Steel as a silver paint, this new one looks vastly superior.

The new Gloss Wash range produces a stunning effect on the above metallic paints. Combining them together creates a gloss effect on the metals that keeps them looking shiny, while at the same time darkening down the crevices and hidden parts of the figure. I wasn't going to get these at first, but after seeing what they can do, I got a pot of each one.

The new Gem effect paints look fantastic! Painting gems has always been annoying to me, especially with the Eldar, as i've never been able to master the technique to painting good gemstones. But these ones look even better and I can't wait to start adding gems to some of my models.

The Necron army (Thokt Dynasty) that I'm just starting painting is on hold until I see better examples of what these gem paints can do. Not that I can't do the blending, but if I can streamline the process and make things shiny? Hells yea.

Glad to see them coming out with more consistent looking metallic paints but I haven't had an issue with their previous offers so it seems a bit of a redundant release to me.

The new gel paints have great potential.

EDIT: can't seem to get posting a picture from my phone to work, that's an example of the blue gel used over silver to get a grey knight scheme.

EDIT: ha. IMG tags all manual like. Noted.

Today's GW website blog has a pretty underwhelming example of the new gem paints. Yellow as a main colour for the test totally washes out the gemstones for me despite that Eldar colour scheme being a popular one.

Really hope they try a bit harder to sell me on this with their promotional pictures, I'm still very much on the fence about picking up any of these.
