The Medusian 1st infantry regiment is filled with some of the(admissibly few) survivors of Medusa V. The regiment originally consisted of 15,000 men and was sent out only one day before the fall of Medusa V began. They were posted to the planet Darrok and fought a bitter campaign to defend against the dark eldar raiders. A double blow was struck on the day they learned of their planets destruction as their regiment lost 7,900 men in a single raid. Eventually they would make their way to the ghoul stars but not before taking on no less then 100 regiments of imperial guardsmen including the 297th cadian infantry regiment, Valhalla 29th infantry regiment, accidentaly taking on the 8th Dannakan artillery, the 209th Praetorian infantry regiment, and the 111th Enjo storm Trooper regiment. They currently have 27,500 men(only about 2,000 are from the original regiment) and are on the world Regaren putting down revolts among local PDF and a Squat uprising. They are having little success and they are asking for help from other nearby regiments.

What do you mean, "taking on"? They fought and defeated 100 regiments? They took them in and absorbed 100 regiments worth of survivors? It seems rather unlikely. 100 different cultures in a single unit would be a nightmare. And while there have been times when very differing types of regiments have been tossed together due to loses, to my understanding that's a rarity.

The idea of a single (relatively small) regiment defeating 100 regiments is hard to believe.

Also the Squats got wiped out a while ago. If your force existed back while they were alive, I don't think the Squats had a PDF. They were fiercely independent. And Terra pretty much let them do whatever in exchange for technology and their rare mineral resources.

Also a regiment wouldn't request help from other regiments directly (generally). They'd request additional reinforcements through the chain of command. The chain of command would eventually hit the Departmento Munitorum who would weigh the costs of benefits of sending additional forces.

I don't mean to nitpick, but I'd change the amount of time between the Regiment leaving Medusa V, and the problems becoming evident. A single day wouldn't be enough for the Regiment to be just turned around and sent back home; after all, the Departmento Munitorum would be looking for the units closest to the problem.
A solution might be to have the Regiment receive the news of the danger at home just as they become involved in the fighting on Darrok, meaning they can't leave. Or, maybe, you could have the Regiment just finishing the fighting, bloody but having won a smashing victory, but then stuck too far away from home to help.
What type of Regiment is it? How much equipment does it have left if it is an Armoured/Mechanised/Artillery regiment? How much of the senior leadership is still alive? Answering these questions will help you to fill in the background and give you ideas for other things to explore. Keep us posted on the adventures and fate of the Medusan 1st!
