hey y'all

Mads here and i wanted to ask as me and my pal are gonna run a doubles tournament in almost 4 weeks (so lots of time).

my me and my pal thought we would use the tournament as a way to start new armies.

so i thought if you might suggest a space marines list that focus on firepower, like devestator squads or dreadnoughts, as we will be figting nids and orks AND LOTS of em :laugh:

i was thinking about starting a 500p csm list but then i heard about this tournament and thougt i would try going good instead of evil :)

the only rule is you have to follow the foc

cant wait to see you replies :grin:

Hey if u want massive firepower in a 500 pts doubles is it ?

Perhaps something like this.
Hq
Motf,Bike,Conversion Beamer 155

Troops
Scouts,x5,Sniper Rifles,Camo Cloaks 90

Elites
Dread 2 TL AC 125

Heavy Support
Dread 2 TL AC 125

Should come to 495 for that, you have good firepower for a 500 pointer and it can work well depending on your ally.Also the scouts are there only for a minor troops choice and with a 2+ cover they wont die too easy.Well let me know what you think.

you are facing hordes, so blast weapons all the way. with nids, and orks, toughness is not a huge deal, unless the nid player starts going with lots of MCs, but in 1500 points, i cant see too many tyrranofex's, so krak missiles should work fine. you will also want some template weapons. sniper rifles sick against hordes, go for rapid fire,

i would go for:
HQ
Motf,Bike,Conversion Beamer 155

10 man Tactical Squad: Flamer, Missile launcher, Rhino: 205
5 scouts: 75

Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Missile launcher : 125

5x Devastators:4x missile launchers, Razorback: 190

750 pts

lots of firepower!, but make sure your partner includes some dedicated CC units, otherwise if you get assaulted, you will suffer

I would still be tempted to get a second dread instead of the devs, make the tac squad rhino a assault cannon razorback which wil leave 15 points to do whatever, maybe add camo cloaks to the scouts i dunno.That will require u to combat squad the tac squad.The arms of the second dread also bieng left to preference tho i would take TL AC for and land speeders or dark eldar u face or indead ork trukks.

its 1 foc each i will be facing atleast 4 nid players and 2 ork players
1 ig player and 1 sm layer and then there are still about 12 people whom i dont know what they'll field.

the boards alredy will have terrain placed and 3 of them got cities of death theme so lots and i mean LOTS of buildings so i actually dont know if firepower is the right way to go :S

well as i haven't the codex yet, i thought i would order it together with the models as i have to wait for 14+ days -.-*

in your situation i would go with a librarian with (forgive me i havnt played my marines in months) the power with the large blast and the gate of infinity...

I forgot where i saw it but a guy made a sm list at like 750 points that had 3 maybe 4 razorbacks. You dont have to combat squad to use the razorback. i would use it to ferry the scouts and then use it to reek hell.

2x scout sqauds with camo cloaks

5 sterngaurd

3 attack bikes with mm

2 whirlwinds

gives you large blasts against those hordes and enough anti tank as the bikes can all be split up and casius is just fun at t6 he is safe frm most things and has feel no pain 2 boot

the idea of fitting lots of razorbacks in an list sounds fun :D

arent they like 40p or something like that?
