I've been pondering a few things whilst building potential lists for a Tournament, and getting ready for a game on Saturday.
I've made use of "Meat shields" to protect my vehicles from Drop podding Melta nastiness before now, and I got to thinking about using the Green Tide in this way.
Say I have a Battlewagon full of Tankbustas. Could I deploy him in the middle of my Green Tide, and as it moves up, so does the Battlewagon. As long as I leave a clear path for the BW to move within, and coherency is maintained by the GT around the vehicle I can't find anything to say that I cannot do this. If I am careful in my placement, it should be difficult for anyone to drop a nasty surprise in on top of me.
Would the vehicle also benefit from the 5+ intervening model cover save.
Am I wrong?

you can, but the vehicle will only be covered if 25% of the facing is covered by an actual obstacle, so i suggest you model your orks with high arms, waving blades and guns

it's a viable tactic, altough i'd rather rely on LoS blocking terrain and sneakyness on the sides...
