Ok I know its going to happen to me as Im a total novice!
But to make me feel better can any body pass on any bad luck stories?
Such as;

most games lost in a row and what did you do to change the trend

I have a ton of stories where the Mountain Angels' have somehow offended the Ancestors and have subsequently been, as the scientific term applies, seriously p'wned.

I have lost a 8-man Veteran squad with five 1's and four 2's.

I have used the Venerable roll on a Penetrating 5, only for him to roll a 6 and wipe my Librarian from existence as well as the Dread.

I have scattered innumerable drop-pods and teleporters into rocks, units, off the board edge, etc.

I have had my commander, Janus, take six straight lascannon rounds, one after the other (without a wound!) and then drop dead from a laspistol shot.

Ah, all the times that my enemies cherish.

My most miserable defeat came at the hands of the Imperial Guard. It was a Second Edition game, and prior to the first turn, my opponent was already half-devoured by those wonderful Random Events that accompanied Tyranid armies. Practically every squad, character, and vehicle on the opposite side of the table was affected. All that good luck might have proved to be my downfall, however, as the bravado that followed goaded me into orchestrating a symphony of foolish mistakes. I still cringe when I remember how I sent two large and EXPENSIVE squads of Genestealers to make a mad dash over open ground.

During the Eye of Terror campaign, I lost every single game I played. Then continued the trend all the way through till Christmas. Made up for it though by getting into a game with superheavies and actually used Gift of Chaos to create a Spawn from, get this, a Barbed Heirodule!!! Was fucking priceless looking at my mates face when it happened. Demoralized him so badly that I wiped the table of every single model he had after that with minimal losses :smoking:

Last five games I have played I have rolled higher than a 3 twice on a pen or glance table. This comes from shooting from an exorcist, plasma cannon, inferno pistol and attacks from a seraphim squad with meltabombs and an eviserator.

back in the old days i fielded a blood angels army, the army command group consisted of a terminator squad led by a captain and the chief libraian of the chapter. a squad of swooping hawks flew over them dropping grenades and wiped them out, i wept.

My first massacre was against tyranids while playing dark angels. In two turns of shooty goodness, I managed to remove one termagant from the table, and then the bugs hit me. It was over before I knew it.

On the other hand, I feel for a young man playing Space Marines in the tourney this last weekend. My son was playing bugs and faced across from him on a cityfight themed table. The scenario had special rules that started on turn 3 but the poor Marine player had been completely wiped out before his turn three began. He's a good player, but the dice were not friendly that day.

Well it's an on-running joke at our store that I must have done something to seriously piss off the goddess of luck because I can't get rolls to save my life. I started playing around 3 months ago now and not one game has passed that I have had good rolling with my SM. Some examples: My chaplain with 2+ save and 3w, i make three saving throws and wouldn't you know, 1s, all three. Having my librarian use veil of time and not putting a single wound on a squad he charged.. there are tons more to my shame, but you get the idea =)

I lost 12 of the first 14 games of Warhammer 40K I played with a certain group of guys.

Guys that I taught how to play, actually.

I still ruled the place when it came to Necromunda, though...

Wow, that was a long time ago.

I try to learn from a loss, and to correct mistakes (I make a lot of mistakes... especially in Deployment: Deployment is half the fight).

Edit: Here's a good story from the Way-Back Machine™: Back in the days of Second Edition, when Jump-pack Assault Marines had to roll for scatter... the very first Blood Claw I moved (they deployed by doing the jumping-out-of-a-Rhino move) deviated right into a stand of trees, got wounded, and promptly failed his armor save.

My first move of the game, and I killed one of my own men (a tough-guy Space wolf, impaled on a fir tree)!

I had a 1000 points of imperial guard and was left with a commisair and a leman russ my friend had a single assault marine (i was going to win) and it was the last turn his assault marine put a melta bomb on my leman russ and rolled a 6 and another 6 causin an expolsion rolling another 6 just catching my commisar and i lost my save and he made his and i lost. i mean that leman russ took 4 lascoannon shots each turn until 5, a muiti-melta, and a demolisher cannon, and the commisar was the loney one left out of 50 conscripts and killed of 4 terminators
