Greetings fellow Heretics! I have been a Space Marine (Salamanders) player for several years now and am currently looking to build a new army away from the Imperium of Man. I have narrowed it down to either Eldar or Tau.

Eldar because I have fond memories of games way back in my college days and Tau because they are just really cool aliens.

I am looking for your opinions. Which should I choose? I will take suggestions for a couple of weeks, after which the most convincing comments will dictate my choice. And the army that is chosen will receive a full photo thread as I build and paint them.

So, if you are so inclined to help me out....let the comments begin!

I'd suggest Eldar, for no other reason than I personally prefer their fluff.

As much as it pains me to say it...eldar. They have really cool models and really cool fluff. Hell, eldar are just really cool in general.

Doesn't stop me from crushing them beneath my boot on the battlefield. :wink:

I'd go tau, although I've never lost to them I love the fact that you can easily have a regimented paint scheme but still have great individual character, that and the fact they can reroll most things with the right wargear.

I would go eldar just for the harlies . One of the most impressive models in the game imo, especially the death jester. Plus I really like the lore of the eldar.

Tau are far better than Eldar imho. I run a Tau list that is solid and damn hard to beat at times. The sheer mobility combined with firepower is just incredibly sweet.

Really? Because Eldar are awfully hard to play, while Tau are fairly easy to win with whether you're paying attention or not.

Tough choice this one.

Eldar: have a wider range of minis and paint jobs in the army.

Tau: have some awesome battlesuits from Forgeworld that are not badly priced for FW.

Id go Tau purely for the FW stuff.

Okay, the race is on! So far my estimates are as follows:
Eldar: 6
Tau: 5
and Tyranids: 1

I am really torn on this one...I would love to try my hand at the Eldar just for the paint schemes alone. And Harelquins are so fricken sweet.

But then again Tau are a very well thought out alien race and very cool looking to boot. I already have a paint scheme thought out. That being a base color of "Terracotta" with Black and White highlights...

I am so excited to do both, but alas money is tight, and my wife will be purchasing the winning Battleforce for my birthday for the Iron Builder event Sept 29th.

Eldar is my vote for three main reasons:
1 I always play an elf army in any system if I can;
2 they've got great fluff;
3 I'm old and haven't caught up with the discovery of the Tau yet (I've only just noticed that Squats have disappeared).

What do you want from your army?
