Hey again (again),

I am momentarily building my own chapter codex (focused on heavy weapons / firepower instead of close combat).

My question:

Would a new weapon with the lance special rule be acceptable for SMs?

Likewise, would a SM unit with jet packs instead of jump packs doable?

Or would any of those somehow conflict with the background?

I'd only use the jet packs for a special unit of your own making insteadof basic and have lance weapon as a new weapon of your own on a tank or/and carried by devastators or/and dreadnoughts

That's exactly what I had in mind.

I am momentarily creating a SM Chapter that focuses on ranged combat / heavy weapons.

I thought about making the vanguards more of a tank hunter squad, giving them jet packs and melta weapons.

And the lance weapon is actually a new ordinary weapon for the thunderfire cannon.

But I thought jet packs and lances are more of Eldar weapons, so I wanted to ask first.

well a lance weapon could just be a super focused lasbeam. Just like how in the Daemon hunters codex they have the Lance strike orbital weapon. As for the jet packs what do they do in your army like rules wise.

Hmm... Now that you ask.
The main benefit of jet packs is that they give the Relentless USA.
But to benefit from that, the unit should be able to get heavy weapons.
But meltaguns or combi-melta would be good enough...

Okay, forget the jet packs. I'll go for meltaguns and usual jump packs.
