After seeing the gorgeous new Wrathmonger/Skullreaper kit I have decided on getting a box and adding them to my CSM army as Khornate marines. But I am unsure what kind, so I worked up these two examples of what they could be;

5 x Chosen (inc/Champion) - 280pts
-5 x Power Weapons
-5 x Plasma Pistols
-5 x MoK
-IoW
-5 x VotLW

Or;

5 x Khorne Berzerkers (inc/Champion) - 197pts
-4 x Chainaxes
-3 x Plasma Pistols
-1 x Power Weapon
-IoW
-5 x VotLW

And both units would escort;

1 x Daemon Prince - 220pts
-Power Armour
-MoK
-Axe of Blind Fury
-Ichor Blood

So either 500pts for the Chosen and their Daemon Lord or 402pts for the Berzerkers and Daemon. Which do you guys think is better? Could either of these units be improved? Or is their a third option that I am not seeing?

A couple of thoughts:

1.) The Daemon Prince is a Monstrous Creature (Character), and not an Independent Character. Unfortunately he can't join another unit.

2.) I'd ditch the plasma pistols. They will either kill you or increase the distance you need to successfully charge. At 15 points a pop I hate them, to be honest. If they were 5 points cheaper I'd say they're worth it in some situations.

My issue with this: each W1 T4 3+ armor model here costs more than 50 points. And they're only as fast as infantry ever are. And they can only hurt things within 12." And they have no way of dealing with vehicles, reliably. And...

A wingless DP doesn't do too much for me, either. W4 T5 is... not that hard to burn down, honestly, especially while it's slogging up the board on foot.

I mean, I get the idea of having a killnasty melee block, implacable and unstoppable. These are just... way expensive units that are pretty damn fragile and not at all mobile, is all. Using the new minis as Termis with, say, dual lightning claws (and maybe a chainfist or two thrown in) would cost about as much but be waaaay more survivable, to say nothing of able to DS where you want rather than stuck footslogging up the board. And the DP can DS too!

Hmm. What about this then;

5 x Red Butchers (inc/Devoured) - 295pts
-2 x Lightning Claw (Pairs)
-3 x Twin Power Axes
-Thunder Hammer (Dev)

These guys would be WS5, BS2, S4, T4, W2, A2 (Dev 3), LD 8 (Dev 9), Sv 2+. They have Cataphractii-pattern armor (Sv 4++ and Slow and Purposeful), Fearless, Hatred (Everything), Feel no Pain (6+), and Unstoppable Charge (Re-roll failed charges).

Do they sound better??

Edit: I'm actually starting to lean away from this after some thought. I think perhaps my points could be better spent on Slaaneshi Daemons in my CSM force.

That a unit of Heresy World Eaters Termis, or something? Not too familiar with the Heresy stuff, honestly.

...but yeah, a large bundle of Seekers and Daemonettes are always a strong addition to any list.
