I want to know when was the latest price increase and if anyone know of any site that listed the price of all the products before and after price increase. Would prefer if it is in U.S price listing, but other currency is fine as well. Thanks

I think this is the worst time to start but I really want like 40K and I worry the price will only increase more later on.

Oh lastly is it true that all products has increase by 30 to 33% (only assuming from AOBR)?

What do you guys think?

Price wise? The worst time. Model wise? The best time, especially with what Forge World puts out. Price wise? It won't get any better, so...

On the other hand, utilizing eBay has saved me several hundred dollars. I picked up 20 AOBR boyz plus warboss last week for $2.25 and $3.00 shipping. A few weeks ago I bought a box of Killa Kans for $31.00, so there are bargains to be had if you shop around.

In addition to ebay, sites like Maelstrom Games and Wayland cane save you a lot of money as well. The models themselves are great, and if you don't mind overlooking the flaws of 40k, and have chosen a well-designed-enough, it can be great fun!

"PCs. My P90 cost me £3000 back in the day. A top of line the line consumer PC is only 800 now. Oh and TVs too."

I trust that you've asked for a decrease in your wages to reflect the drop in your cost of living?

Not a Good time if your planning on playing DE, Necs, SoB, CSM, or Daemons. Great time for IG, all SMs, Eldar, Nids, Orcs.

As for prices, pay GW nothing, Ebay, Ebay, Ebay.....

Does anyone else think there will come a time when GW will set prices so high in this world crashed economy that they will get no sales and be bankrupt cause of their greed?

buying everything new is anathema to your wallet but it really depends what you get out of the hobby. I like spending ages on models and doing the whole modification side to stuff, which is made harder by ebaying 2nd hand stuff. Ofc if you just want an army with which to game then i can understand.

If you're not willing/Can't pay for the models then no don't get into 40k. The Prices are never going to drop, and will only go up.

If you are willing to spend money for the hobby, go to thewarstore.com and place your orders there.

Prices will drop when GW is no longer getting customers to purchase their stuff from them directly.

Personally, I buy all my books from GW - they're expensive, yes, but GW obviously have a huge mark up on them, so what models I buy elsewhere is covered somewhat by the huge mark up.

Over the years, I've easily spent nigh on £1200 (over about 9 years, I think) just on books to keep up to scratch. However, you don't need to do that, of course - you need to spend only on the rulebook for the army, and the rulebook. There's a small rulebook banging around for about a tenner on places like Ebay if you don't fancy spending £35 for a 40K BRB.

You'll need the templates - you can easily make these out of card by photocopying the ones in the rulebook, or borrowing your opponents. For AoBR, I wouldn't even suggest getting it - sure you get the small rulebook, range rulers, dice and templates, etc - but you can easily pick up dice anywhere, most people have a tape, and as said you can make your own templates, and as said, you can get the book on it's own cheaply from elsewhere.

But yeah, if you buy your models from elsewhere, like Bits and Kits, while buying your books from GW, they're less likely to put the prices up as often.

My airsoft rifle for example. The retail price of it was $400 but I got it for $250. Also I build my gaming PC for 1K, years ago a good pc would cost upward of 3 to 4K. Same with laptops, nowadays laptop are better and cheaper. 4 years ago I got my mac for 1.2K and nowadays u can get a macbook pro with bigger screen for the same price.

hippypancake

Don't Remind me, I hate TBFM and AOBR has 20 Boyz.

OrkByTheGraceOfGork.

Did you get those by bidding?

Masked Jackal

Ebay, Wayland Games, and the Warstore are my top 3 choices, but even so I can help but what to know how much cheaper it was before the price increase with these stores.

Warlock in Training

Mantics will give GW Fantasy a run for their competition but until warmachine and horde lower their price, GW 40K miniatures will always be expensive.

The problems is with their local store, kids (i was a kid once and fell victim to them, and it is why I lost out and was away from 40K for 9 years) will always get attracted to their miniatures and pay outrageous price. I really want GW to close it store down and therefore price will go down, as we are paying for the cost of the store and their employee (who some are real jerk)

I think the hobby is at it's peak nowadays. Nice models, great books. but you have to bear in mind that this is no cheap hobby. As such it will require "some" spending. The best thing is to reduce your needs to a minimum and take advantage of sites/stores with discounts (when it comes to saving a buck or two, it's always worth the try). With some planning and price search you can get a pretty nice army without going bankrupt and selling your body at the nearest street corner.

But if prices are your only concern, respectfuly I suggest you try to find another hobby.

Even if GW closed down all of their stores world wide, the price of their models would not drop. They would funnel the saved money into other areas of their business (new models, specialist games, bonuses, more gamesdays ect.) rather then drop prices on their models. The prices on their models are based more off what people are willing to pay then anything else.

I am personally not up to speed on how their stores are run in the US/UK, so I can't comment on how their business model works but if they are that much of a resource drain, with no other benefits, I would shutter them all and the saved money would go towards production.

I also don't find GW's prices to be all THAT high. Considering you can build up a sizeable force of any one faction to 3000 points and then NEVER buy a model again, the price isn't to terrible.

It just sucks for people like most of us that want a few armies or have models that are just cool to own, cause then it gets expensive.

klebold, I love the whole conversion thing and spending ages on my models, but since GW stopped selling individual bits (meaning you have to buy a whole ork warboss if you just want his axe for your wolfguard, for example), ebay is definitely the best place to get these.

And yeah there are some excellent bargains, i picked up the FW wolfguard terminator upgrade for £8 inc postage last week (minus one body, but hey ho)! bonus. Yesterday i got a mail order only techmarine for 99p! that'll be my next iron priest :)

I buy from both auction and "buy it now". It has to do with people's interest in the models, luck, timing, and sniping (part of timing). I search the category I am interested in plus a general search in other categories because sellers miscategorize like selling Orks in the Tau section. I then put everything I am interested on my watch list and update it often. I'm always looking.

The Boyz and Warboss I bought were from an auction that ended at $2.25. The Killa Kans were a "buy it now" at $30.00 but when I combined shipping it only came to a little over $31.00.

So here the price increase I was talking about...

http://www.heresy-online.net/news/2010-games-worksshop-price-rises/

Also please tell me this isn't true?

Now -that- move last year angered me. Instead of getting 20 models per box, we're getting ten. For the same price. Now, a year or so later, we're getting ten for a higher price.

*^&%*&^*^%*^ it GW! Stoppit! I'm done with you, and I'm not buying from you save for the rulebooks. Mantic and Reaper and PP can have my money.

If so how much was the 20 troop shock trooper worth like let say before both price increase or as early as 2007?

Please let me KNOW!!!

rep will be added to those who give me an answer. Maybe I'm just unlucky, Idk.

anytime is a bad time to start 40k in the U.S. the prices have always been higher. but the latest price increase on most items is like 2 bucks. dude just buy 1 item at a time, you will have a army within a year. im talking like 2 items a month. thats what my cousin did and he had like a 2000/2500 point army. but yea its a colectors game meaning you dont buy everything at once. you buy a box set paint it up and get some cash then go buy another one. if you have a job you can easily buy a box set every paycheck. but yea good luck with the game.
Oh and i totally agree with you the game is expensive.
