Is the Mechanicum based on '2112'?

If 2112 is the comic series from 1991-1995 (as found via google), then it post-dates the first mention of Adeptus Mechanicus by GW.
Ah, youngsters. Actually, I was thinking of the classic 1976 rock album '2112' by Rush, which is not coincidentally the very first thing listed in a Google search of '2112' and whose lyrics I (in part) quoted.
And being a Rush Fan I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Emperor hadn't taught Geddy Lee some of those ungodly skills of him!
