Hello all,

Been doing the rounds on a few forums and thought I would join here also.

Just a quick hello and a post of some of the work im doing now.

I have not painted or collected GW minatures for nearly 15 years. Just getting back into it. So here are some pics of what I done over past 2 weeks or so.

Space Marine Ultramarines chapter, nothing new there but Im starting with a chapter I used to collect.

Thanks.

Excellent work, especially for being out of the hobby for so long... The Ultras look great. Tell me that while you did nothing with GW figs, you kept yourself busy with other figs, please! Otherwise, I'll be ashamed of my own work, lol.

No first time painting any models in that long. Like riding a bike tho? :)

I need lots more practice but I am happy with them for now.

you don't need any practice they rock i love the shading and painting and everything, i have just reached the stage of painting neatly, after a absence of 3-5 years, though i could never really paint well anyway

Have to agree, they look excellent. My first thought was that you must have been painting other models in the meantime as well.

I went to Art school and degree in Graphic design so I guess that helps! I should never have stopped really, but I hit that age where beer and women was all I cared about, and sadly my hobbies vanished lol.

Well im back now and really enjoying the painting. I may even give the TT games a go one day. The only game I used to play was Space Hulk. :)

The chest wings done with undercoat black to start (whole model is sprayed) then painted with shining gold. When dry layered with flesh wash ink, then highlighted with shining gold / mithril silver mix.

Not hard to guess with the work that you did here... Check out coolmini for some ideas that I'm sure someone with your skill can employ to really take their models to the next level. Keep up the good work.!:eek:k:

Thats a very high standard after so long away from the hobby.

Theres nowt wrong with Ultras and when painted that well they are a pleasure to see.

How do you find the Foundation paints to use, bit better than the old stuff eh?

I would love to see some of your minis in the gallery at some point and more of your painting.

Heres hoping you make Heresy your home forum.

Yer thanks for that, good forum this, very busy!

Foundations, yer they are good, very thick tho, need watering down alot.

I just ordered 16 Vallejo Game Colour paints so gonna try them as well, from reviews etc they seem to be better that GW paints, but i need to try em.

I painted these guys before reading any advanced painting articles or tutorials, I done nothing but spent the past week reading so Ill post the next one I do. I learnt alot from browsing here and other sites. Takes time and practice tho, I just need a few more tools to do a proper job them im sorted!

Tnx.
