Can I pick the brains of the assorted Imperial masses out there? Techpriest Enginseers? Do you use them and what loadout do you give them if you do?

For my Mabian Armoured Cavalry regiment it makes sense to take them, I mean if you are rolling into battle with hundreds of tonnes of armour then a chap who knows how to fix them is probably a good idea.

I was planning to equip him as follows:-

Techpriest
- Plasma Pistol (Master-crafted)
- Honorific Imperialis
- Refractor Field
- 2x Technical Servitors
- 2x Gun Servitors (Multimeltas)
- Chimera (TL Heavy Bolter Turret, Hull Heavy Bolter, Pintle Heavy Stubber, Mine Sweeper, Extra Armour, Track Guards, Smoke Launchers)

If memory serves that work out at 305pts, which is pretty steep. I like the idea that the Adeptus Mechanicus have all the funky techno gadgets and that their vehicles are bespoke and combine elements of STC for field testing. To that end I intend on using the Razorback Heavy Bolter Turret for the turret on the chimera and replacing the standard Chimera roof hatch with one of the cupolas from the razorback and attach the heavy stubber to that.

Before I put clippers to sprue or knife to plasicard I thought I get your opinions and thoughts.

well when I FINALLY get a baneblade, I'm going to have

techpriest
4xTechnical servitors (so fixing on a 2+ hehehe)

and thats it, I don't see the point in spending hundreds of points on something that should be fixing your tanks, not zipping around getting himself killed

I had planned on taking one with the 4 tech servitors as well to fix the tanks in my Guard army.

Should probably point out that the regiment is mechanised so I have to take the Chimera.

I was tempted by the 4 technical servitors but liked the idea of making him multifunctional.

Without the honorific imperialis I was worried he would become a prime target for torrent of fire, and my saving throw rolls are generally dire.

I'd drop the plaspistol, it's an expensive way to give your enemy free VP on a bad roll

As tempting as it is to give a high BS character a hard-hitting plasma weapon, the chance of overheat isn't worth the benefit. If you want to throw good points after bad and make it MC it makes it safer, but now you're paying a ton of points for something you can only use once you're in charge range. Your tech should be fixing tanks, not trying to line up a shot. And you definitely shouldn't be getting close enough to be charged. Techpriests aren't bad in melee, but you don;t want him to get tied up.

Nailed it on the head in one, SC. This is exactly how I field mine, and I only do so when 'Tinkerbell', my Baneblade, is in play.

Have to agree with Stella Cadente, while it may be fun kitting him out you are wasting points that could be spent elsewhere. Decide what you want him to do (repair) and only spend points towards this. Oh and leave the plasma pistol, one unforeseen "gets hot" roll could really hurt you and leave your jallopies on the field of battle without a grease monkey in sight .... :?

As above really, I know that you want him multifunctional, at the most I would maybe take one gun servitor with something like a plasma cannon just sh*ts and giggles but otherwise just go for the 4 techies.

One way I fielded him before was with the honourifica, but I kitted him out to make them a close combat unit and bunged them in a chimera, the only time this guy repaired anything was if it was his own chimera - and by then he'd be pretty p*ssed!

Although one game saw him spending 3 turns trying to fix the chimera (would've been quicker to walk) to then have an earthshaker round seriously ruin his day :|

I tend to go with the fix or fry option on his sevitors, Plasma Cannons mainly as its the only way to get them apart from the Demolisher sponsons. (Plus more AP3 is always nice and I have terrible rolls on fix its.)

I would say that Guard have enough shooting elsewhere...what you want to look out for is try not to blow your tanks up. Then you'll just have a 305 point road block. My Techmarine has two tech servitors, and two gun (HB)
