imperial guard platoons lets say you have two Inf Squad, Platoon Command Squad and two heavy wepons squads do they all have to fire at the same target. e.g if the inf squads shoot at target (A) do the heavy wepons also have to shoot at target(A) or can they shoot at a diffrent target?

The infantry platoon must have a minimum of a pcs and two infantry squads. But it can have up to 5 infantry squads, 0-5 hw squads, 0-2special weapon squads and 0-1 conscript squads. It is a single force org chart selection but each individual squad is treated as a separate unit on the table. They can deploy as far apart as you like(but are a single unit for reserves purposes) and select their targets independently.

Unless you go with the "Combined Squad" Special Rule, then they become one great big unit.

But only the basic guard, not the command, conscripts and weapon teams
In other words the ones that don't have the "Combined Squad" special rule, thus not allowing you to "go with it"
