Hey, this list is just somthing i came up with to accomidate the models i was given, any comments on how to go from here or if this list will even be a little bit competative would be good

Lysander 200

Terminators 200

Dreadnought w/ assult/plasma cannon 120

Tactical squad 10 men w/ flamer 170

Tactical squad 10 men w/ flamer 170

Devastator squad 5 men w/ lascannon, 2 missile launchers, and multimelta 170

Total= 1030 Pts

Termies need a cyclone and ideally 5 more men. Run them and Lysander up the field and dare people to come get you.

A Librarian is a must for psychic defense.

Tacs need Rhinos.

Dreads need MM/HF or dual TLAC.

Devastators are too expensive, ditch 'em.

Grab more mech, more termies and you should be set.

Just a few questions. What type of termies? Do your tac squads have heavy weapons?

If you have assault term you need a land raider. I would look at stern guard. The bolter drill would do great for them and having him in the squad would help if they get assaulted. You could also place them in a DP or a landraider.

Then I would look at adding a few bikes or land speeders for flanking attacks. That should get you to 1500 and 1750 pretty easy. Good luck.

If you do not have heavy weapons in your tac squads then take them out of your Dev squads. Add a few rhinos to the tac squads. If you are going to use the Dev squad plus it up to ten, add a razorback and look at combat squading them to allow you the option to fire at two different targets.

So, ive had a rethink, and using the models at my disposel, does this sound like a better list?

Chaplain
Plasma pistol
Digital weps =125

Normal Termies x6 = 240

Rifleman dread=125

2x Tactical Squad 10 men w/flamer =170

Devestators w/ lascannon, 2x rockets and a multimelta =170

Total exactly 1000

Having weapons with ranges so different isn't a good idea, to my mind. If you do have several more bodies, I'd advise you to give 2 ML to tacticals and build a third Tac squad with either MM or Lascannon - the points would be nearly the same, but you'd get fire-splitting and some variants for target-choosing.

Normal Termies x6 = 240
Without both transport (or Rhino-propelled teleport homer) and a heavy gun (Cyclone or Assault Cannon) they aren't much threat both in CC (can be evaded) and in firefight (soak/evade/armor save - whatever).

What is his place on the battlefield? What squad with?

It has too little heavy weapons to be a proper gunline and is too slow to be something else. Maybe the list is built of lefotver models but it's perspective isn't too good, I'm afraid.

Regular Terminatorsx6 240 I would drop this group to 5 and give them a cyclon launcher or run 5 assault term with Lysander in the land raider

Tactical squad 10 men w/ flamer & rhino 205 What heavy weapon do they have? With the ten man squad you get a free weapon so take it. I think rhinos are a good add.

Devastator squad 5 men w/ lascannon, 2 missile launchers, multimelta 170 and razorback w/ tl lascannons 245 If you drop the LR add 5 troops and split into combat squads. A MM is better used in a tac squad with transport to get it into range.

Landraider w/ multimelta upgrade 260 unless you are taking assault terms I would drop it.
