Only real thought would be to have and ultimate blob squad, either that or some buffed up comand squad with iron hand straken.

So basically options are:

● 5 squads of imperial guard squads, each with Sargent with power fist or more likely power axe and melta bombs. Along with either of a shootier blob with a lascannon or more assulty unit with meltas or flamers.

●then allied and units to buff the squad, preists for more combat focused buffs and command and platoon comand squads for the shooting and movement buffs. These along with the options for psykic buffs for defence.

The other option is basically a combat buffed comand squad with iron hand straken for the major squad punch, but basically the same idea get buffs for combat through preists and maybe something for survivability such as an invulnerable save and feel no pain.

Too my knowledge that the main options building out of the IG/AM book unless its coming out of an allied book primarily.

10 Man Bullgryn Squad, 3x Powermaul and brute shield, Bone'ead with power maul and brute shield; joined by:
L2 Primaris psyker with biomancy
Priest with plasma gun (surprise! Plasma!)
Lord Commissar with Emperor's Benediction, Sword of Conquest and Deathmask of Ollanius.

Should be enough attacks in that to overwhelm terminators and marines, death on legs for orks, eldar stupid enough to get caught in combat and tau who couldn't shoot them down before hand.

To make it even more ridiculous...

Stormlord as a transport.

Checks in at 1245 for the lot, which is pretty outrageous for a guard unit...

I faced a guy who played two of these squads (EDIT: Bullgryn/Ogryn I can't remember) in one game AND abused wound allocation. Worst game, but rules nudging aside if you get the right powers for this unit it's bonkers good. Slow, but good.

Honestly, the guy asked for a rematch and I laughed at him.

Ignorance here, but how does one abuse wound allocation?

By not allocating wounds to a model until it dies before moving on. It was when I was just starting to get used to the new BA 'dex so I was way too focused on what my army was doing to realize that he was way wrong (plus I'd never really faced many multiple wound units like this before). Say I did 5 wounds in CC to the squad, he took one wound each off five models then attacked back with all of them as opposed to two of them dying and a third having one wound left.

He was learning too with that army I guess, though he also took a Riptide against me at 500 points with an Unbound army of 'go fuck yourself' proportions when I was playing Battle Forged and learning a new Codex.

*shrug* got a sweet gaming group going on now.

If Iraqiel hadn't mentioned it first I would have tossed it out there since you were looking for it. It's a fairly common thing to see among some competitive Guard players, though I much prefer my tanks. Don't think I even own an Elites choice for my army :grin:

I miss Marbo...and I should probably actually build my Storm troopers that have been sitting half built for 2 years now...

Glorious times of DSing 2 Storm troopers and Marbo and obliterating stuff.

My buddy used to DS Stormtroopers on me all the time. They used to have doctrines that they could choose from and one of them was re-roll DS scatter, yeah? Bastards with their plasma....too many good marines dead :laugh:

Maybe we get a dataslate Marbo? He's one of the last models I have from when I was a kid....even fully painted!

50 Guardsmen, Power Axe Sergeants, 5 Lascannons, White Scars Librarius Conclave, 2 regular old Priests and an Inquisitor with the Liber Heresius, Rad Grenades and Psychotroke Grenades. Add Orders and off you go. Alternatively the classic, Azrael and either enough Librarians to roll it or Stern to guarantee Sanctuary. With Priests, congrats, your Guard blob has 3++ rerollables in melee.
