Since the HQ command squad guardsmen have BS4 would it be better giving them a missile launcher or an autocannon?

Personally i think they are better off with Meltaguns or Plasmaguns, and mounted in a Chimera.

But this depends entirely on what the rest of your list consists of.

What KOC says is true, but not everyone wants to go the 'mech' route..in the end take the HW you feel that suits your needs, which normally equates to -

- do you need anti-armour or anti-infantry weaponry?
- is it against Transports, Tanks or Land Raiders?
- do you face mainly GEQ, MEQ or even TEQ armies a lot?

i face alot of green tide lists and elite tyranid lists and i almost always roll my ccs with: autocannon, sniper rifle and a vox caster.

however i have just fully realized the sheer killyness of the missile launcher and moo combo which will vapories large ork mobs

so it depends entirely on what you face most

If you want the officers to cast bring it down Take a Heavy Weapon matching the ones he is going to order because he needs line of site to it.
For example 2 Lascannon Teams and a Las cannon in the ccs has some synergy just use whatever fits your roll.

If you have a chimera plasma guns with a medic can be a big pest to TEQ models and light armor plus your mobile

one of my favorites is 4 GL in a chim its cheap and its is flexible

My list is as follows

HQ with missile launcher, reg standard and vox, three troop squads with AC (AC in command as well) with one attached heavy weapons squad with missiles per troop entry, 2 Leman Russ Exterminators with HB sponsons, 1 Vendetta with HB sponsons and 3 scout sentinels with AC.

Comes in at about 1500pts

So does that read 3 HWT with missle launchers and 30 infantry 3xAutocannons plus the PCS with a fourth? Sounds like your going to rip a hole into any light armor but if the vendetta goes down Good Luck with Armor 14. str 8 weapons don't do very well.

how many vox casters are you using?

Whats your 2nd Troop Choice?

Vendettas aren't that great at AV14, you need melta to be truly effective at that. That said, the OP might not face any in his area.
