Gidday Fellas.

Just two questions. I'm wanting to add some Imperial Gaurd to my Deamon Hunters so I was surfing NZ's local version of EBAY called Trade Me. On it I came across these two auctions.

and

They have been on for a while so I don't think anybody is interested in them. Now my question is are they worth the money (3 NZ dollars = 1 Pound) or am I better to spend $55 on a box set of 20 and get the extra parts. I'm not sure as I kinda like to convert my guys and those ones don't come with anything extra and they are already made. I'm not sure - any suggestions.

OK second question.

Does anybody have any good tips on how to paint Tartan. For the guys I was thinking of either painting one shoulder pad tartan or the bottoms of their tunics. Ideas?

Cheers

You could always buy some Tartan paint! Its on the shelf next to the bucket of steam.
damn you, i was gonna say that

ass for actually painting it, all I can think of is a steady hand really, Ork players might be able to help you out, as painting checks (a rather ork theme) is almost the exact same as painting Tartan.

Ok update. I didn't get either of the sets and have instead managed to win this little ripper of a deal.

Not bad for $71 NZ, apporx 25 pounds including shipping.

I'll either strip all the paint of or just paint of the cloth black as my color scheme is black fatigues and green flak armour. So that should arrive on Monday or Tuesday and then its time to break out the tartan paint and get Inducting these Guardsmen into the ranks of the =I=.

that isnt a half bad deal there!

i would say its easiest to just overpaint he cloth with black, then start with the tartan. if you wanted to do the comand squad properly then stripping them would be better.

iv never seen tartan painted before though, cant wait to see some of them done!

Yea I know I was over the moon when I won it. I didn't find out till about 10 at night because it ended while I was at course.

I forgot to mention that I will strip the command squad like cccp_one suggested. Depending on how the tartan goes I might do his great coat in it.

I'm really nervous now after hearing you havn't ever seen it done well. :| .

There was a bloke who did his Space Wolves as a clan with tartan years ago that was featured in WD.( I will see if I can find it.)

When I want to do little patterns or symbols freehand on models I practice on any surface to hand.

I draw what I want out first then paint over it.
Normally I start off larger than I want it and reduce the size of my practice piece each time untill I have it down to the size I want.
