I have held a copy of the ork army list "aquired" by the local kommando through his many varied connections. Its going to be a damm good codex. also, ive heard rumors of a new DE codex with a new model range sometime in 2008.

Unfortunately no they are not being phased out... the DE will be redone late 2008... Dont ever see any players and our local hobby shop sells them mostly by special order as they rarely sell anything for them. GW said they would be taking there time next year working on them as they want to "hammer out the fluff" such as homeworlds and the like.. I personally dont like DE from anything other than a fluff and background point of view..dont take me as hatin on them but they are not a popular army around here.. maybe I would change my mind if there were more players..

I can't find a quote, but GW has no plans to drop Dark Eldar. They'll be getting redone. It's taking awhile since they'll need to replace basically the entire range.

The main thing I'd like to see for the DE is upping the cost of Dark Lances to 30 points instead of 10, and making warrior squads minimum sized at ten models. A person in the local area fields 5 man squads in raiders with 2 dark lances, so he essentially has about 6 or 7,triple Dark Lance raiders that float just outside of range and cause all sorts of trouble for people with more balanced lists.

I know GW released an official press release or something wherein JJ pledged that any army that has a codex will never be dropped, and that all codex armies will be updated as quickly and regularly as possible.

Which means DE will not go away, but new armies will be slow in coming, and chapter approved lists will either vanish or get folded into the new codices (like how you can take Wazdakka and run bikes as troops in the new ork dex, effectively folding kult of speed into the new dex. They brought back deffkoptas too)

I was disappointed to see that Feral Orks didn;t get folded in, but at least the Kult of Speed is back.

It;s a remarkably good codex. I plan to hawk my tau eventually and pick up some greenskins

I dig the fluff of the DE well enough to start an army of them but the completely ass models prevent it. Never see me field an army of dunce caps, never.

Well my friend has been gaming for more than 5 years, and in the time I have completed 5 armies (2 40k and 3 fantasy) he hasn't even got a complted 1000pt army.

How did this turn into a discussion about Dark Eldar. We should be rejoicing about the new Ork codex(at least I am). A copy just wound up in my hands a few days ago. I finished my new Ork list last night, waiting for my son to come over this weekend so I can see how it works against Chaos. The codex is good the Orks should kick a little ass now. If you go to Bell of lost souls web site they are saying there are strong rumors about new Dark Eldar models and codex.

Why bump up the point cost that much? I can see maybe 15-20 but you cant just kill the main ranged weapon of DE by making it too expensive to take.

Too bad that is illegal, only Raider Warrior Squads can take a Raider and they are limited to one Dark Lance. Also Ravagers can only have 3x Dark Lances.

I cant wait to see the new Ork Dex, and I love the sound of a New DE dex

Hi all

I haven't seen it in person, but from what I gather on different forums it looks like the new Orks dex is very powerfull. Basically , everyone who tryed it are braggin about winning 5+ games in a row without even trying to make a competitive list. I reckon that I saw most of these posts on an Ork forum, but still, I hope it's not as unbalanced as those people make it out to be.

As for DE, I really hope they get that new codex soon, the current one is way too much of a power gamers wet dream.
