How to paint bullet holes on miniature armour?

Particularly larger-shelled bullets, like a bolter.

I saw the one on the GW site, and disliked it.

Bullet hole go here:

it is a sticker, but you can see the grey field along with the black spot for the hole. The top of teh black spot paint dark grey 9or whatever color your armor is0 and then paint the bottom of the black spot with a highlight.
