hey all, so ive got betrayal of calth, but ive not got the fw rule set to play them at 30k at the moment, so im wondering how are u guys gonna run your set ie numbers and weapons?

any help be great

Dark Angels have no rules yet, so you get either Stubborn or Furious Charge for being a Legion with no rules yet. I'd probably go with 2x 15 Tacticals, 5 Terminators with Combi-Bolters and a mix of Power Axes, Power Fists and Chainfists, a Praetor with kit, and a Centurion with a Consul-ship of your choice - I probably wouldn't go Chaplain, unless you wanted to go with a squad of 10 Tacticals and a squad of 20 with Bolter/Bolt Pistol/CCW, because I think a Master of Signals or Vigilator is usually more useful but the Consuls are fairly well balanced against one another, so go with what you like the look of. The only one you certainly won't want is a Delegatus because a. you already have a Praetor and b. you don't need a Rite of War, so there's literally no reason to bring a Delegatus.

cool yeah bit of a bummer with no DA rules but I hear I have to wait till around feb for them, I was thinking of going for 2x 15 man tacts, with the tacts do they get special weapons and heavy like 40k , ive read in some places no they don't but from the calth set they do?

terminators ive built all with power weapons ( veriaty of claw, axe, fist), would u run a heavy weapon on them , I have the heavy flamer and a TL autocannon

so ive left the praetor with his chain fist and combi bolter, but was thinking about converting his chainfist into a wrist mounted blade to run the pragon blade( or what ever its called lol)

ive kept the chaplin in( although with a head change and changed the top of his weapon to a DA one)


im considering getting another calth box then im thinking upping the tacticals to 20 and running a 20 man with bolt pistol /ccw

or other option would be upping tacticals to 20 then running 2 x 10 man vets

Legion Tactical Squads can't take any weapons o ther than Bolters, except the Sergeant who can bring a Combi-Weapon and the usual array of Pistols and power weapons. For special weapons and Heavy Weapons you need Legion Support Squads (Troops, 5-10 man ALL armed with the same Special) and the equivalent of Devastators, the name escapes me (Heavy Support, 5-10 Marines ALL with Heavies). The guys in the Calth set have been built as Veterans, who can take two specials or heavies but are 5-10 strong and Elites unless you bring Pride of the Legion.

I think 2 Calth sets for two blocks of 20 Tacticals and then some specialists (Seekers, Veterans, Support Squads/Heavies or Legion-specific troops where applicable) is a good idea.

Praetor with Paragon Blade is the go-to unless you're maxing out on Consuls - certainly the go-to Praetor build. I'm running Sevatar so I can't really give much advice here, but Paragon Blade with some other toys shouldn't go too far wrong.

nice nice , ive just ordered 30 dark angel should pads, another contemptor assault cannon to duel that up and the champion and signal guy, but as a base the calth set seems really good, ive got some spare marines already as ive used the robed DA models for my sergeants, which gives me a number of spare models, maybe a 5 man support squad.
